Bondi, not bad but too many sooky life guards on jet skis

My trips listed below. Not in any order.
Favorites for me (flat water kiter) are, Cocos & Ras Sudr

I need some advice re Daklha please.
Where is best for flat water?
Is Ocean Vagabond bungalows good place to stay.
Is there another place south of there that is better? Name?
Tidal range looks to be about 2.5 metres. I assume the sand flats are dry at low tide. Is there a difference in tide times between Dakhla town and the kite camps?

I was there in July and it was busy, but certainly not crowded. I have heard it can get really busy around September.

For a novice wave rider like myself it was an awesome spot to get out on the waves and progress. Amazing location!

PNG was pretty awesome in 2010. Didn't get a winter kite getaway in 2011 as I did the family holiday gig in NZ.

Trying to decide for 2012... PNG again (sure to be an awesome time with plenty of wind an no crowds) or Cocos.

Which countries have you kited and where was best?

For me (in order of best to worst):

Brazil - the best
Cape Verde - waves and wind and nothing else
Dahkla (western sahara) awesome flat water spot...
Mauritius beautiful
Australia (only done east coast between Melbourne and Magnetic Island, 10 weeks without much wind!)
Spain mostly Tarifa and surrounding area. Strong wind but choppy
Egypt good thermo wind
England choppy waves crap weather but good wind
Italy (Sardinia, nice spot at porto pollo)
Holland (like England, without the English)
France - bay of biscay. Tres bien
Ibiza - only good for partying
Thailand (windless)

Oh and freshwater for showers etc there is full of sulfur, really stinks! Especially bad at camp Attitude. Salt water baths is best

Oz - East coast: Port Douglas down as far as Wooli. West Coast: Perth to Exmouth

Vietnam - Mui Ne... ok. Choppy water, lumpy wind near beach, thin beach, busy. Great bars, food, facilities (air/kiteboys/etc). I liked the north beach more, had to take a taxi or scooter 15 mins to get there, but quieter and cleaner wind, and more/better swell. I did almost step on a syringe there tho.

South Africa.. Much like east Oz along coast (Durban/J bay, garden route,etc) but as you get nearer the cape add more wind, colder water. ie swaps from being like east coast to west coast.

Cambodia: No wind when I was there
Otres beach was nice tho, and must get some wind

Downwind riding to the "White Dune"
15 km ride, boat to accompany, 4 hours, experienced riders only.
Picnic available on request.
Boat transport from 1 to 4 riders = 120€/1300 dhs

I am going back to Fiji. Pick the time when waves/wind co operate. Namotu is my pick. It has everything you want. Do it.

Here is my list in order of preference:

Hawaii
- Mokuleia(Oahu) - perfect rights, reef break, wind everyday from 2pm to 6pm.
- Kite beach, Maui - flat water and sometimes good waves, strong winds 24x7.
- Kailua - windless.

Los Roques, Venezuela
- Super flat and hot water, great people and the downwind from island to island everyday is epic.

Brazil
- Cumbuco, Fortaleza. Super flat water, steady wind every day, but the lagoon is packed.
- Ibiraquera, SC - Epic rights during the winter.

Los Roques is on my bucket list...

Re Brazil, did the 400km coast between Fortaleza and Jeri. Combuco was good but Jeri was epic... Check it out next time!
