G'day, im looking at buying my new kite tomorrow and need some advice as to which kite to get. I am looking for a one kite quiver, i ride surf and flat water. Durability is very important to me as well as performance because im after a kite that will help me progress.
The kites i have to choose from are;

2008 Monkey griffin 12m
2007 Ozone instinct Sport 13m

Both the same price, and are either new or damn close to being new. Any experiance and advice with either of these kites would be greatly appreciated.
No brand pimping please, just straight out constructive feeback.

My details:
Location: Sydney-Northern beaches
Weight: 72kg
Board: 132 tt
Style- i wish

Cheers
Alex

And get the 11, not the 13. I weigh about the same as you, the 13 is too big n slow. 11 is a peach.

I haven't really pushed the top end on the 11m Sport, haven't had it long, but today I was on a 128 FLX in 13 knots, and the old 06 11m was still comfortable at 25 knots. I think there's still an 11m Edge in the Buy n Sell too, could be worth a look?

I just put the new Ozone chickenloop and Beal line on my 07 bar, very nice and not X'y, 60 ish from KP. Next best thing to an 08 Ozone.

Hey lex123

since youve added the Rev to the picture......

my main choices this year were the SS Rev and the Naish sigmas....... ended up with the sigmas mainly cause thay arrived on the scene first....

but try em both......... at my local revs and sigmas are almost on par...

all i can say is that the sigmas arent a funny shape just for looks......

my 2cents

I personally think the Rev is a bit of a dog, seemed to get over powered really quickly (I hae just demoed an 11m), EH rippers are really nice, fast to turn and fast through the window but with a bunch of depower available .

Also see if you can get a Takoon bar for whatever kite, i think they are they best available right now.

The Ozone are a great kite too, really well built and has the anti inversion setup which is good if you like to push the top end. (flown 9,11 and 13 - biggers ones were the 'sport', 9 was a 'lite')

go try teh sport 11m or PM Abesy to hear his reply on them. the sport is better suited for unhooked and drifty kinda surfing then teh edge. edge is all boost n hangtime.as fr size go 11 as u weigh just as much as me and abesy n he rides an 11 in pretty much 13 14 knots up.

Hey Lex123,

It's not even a contest, the 11m Ozone! The 13m is very grunty but probably a bit slow. At 72 kilo, you don't need that much bottom end. The 11m has a great wind range.

It's no contest! Have fun choosing.

Good winds,

Avoid the Monkey Griffin like the PLAGUE!!!!

Demoed one and ABSOLUTELY HATED the thing. Get the Ozone or the REV, sorry, haven't flown either myself atm, so that's as much as I can help mate.

Yep, my advice is the 11M Ozone too, and can do one for the price we have discussed too.
The Rev is well priced, but is going to be a lot more than your budget I think??
And I reckon there will be nice NE wind today, tomorrow and hopefully Thursday too!!

If you were looking for absolute bottom end you would be better off buying or making a light wind board and just having a 1 kite quiver (11M Sport).

Cya and

Goodwinds
