http://www.waparagliding.com/learntofly.htmlI would say you need at least 100 hours of active flying and advanced rating (easy to get) to start speed flying with a larger wing (depends on your body weight 16 to 18 m2) and as you feel more comfortable with your wing you'll reduce the size of your wing.
For speed riding on the snow, you need to be an advanced skier and know how to pack and run away before you get caught as it is not legal in most places (not that hard if it's not in the peak season)
Funny thing is the cost of the course, equipment & even a motor to enable you to fly everyday is less than half of the cost of a jet-skiI used to do speed riding but as we don't have snow here in Perth I moved on to motorized flying;
Most of the pilots you see in this video are kite surfers too
