Hi All,

I just got a copy of this video sent from Ozone. It is a video of Ozones own factory in Vietnam and shows kites being manufactured. I think Ozone is one of the only kite and paraglider companies that manufacture their own kites, not made in China like most others.

A very interesting video for those of us who have never seen inside a kite factory.

Enjoy!

Make their own kites? So all the guys that own the company sit around sewing together and making kites all day?

So what’s the difference between being made in Vietnam and china? It's still a mass production line.

It’s not like every kite brand is employing little children in sweat shops to make there kites for them.

Coose did you mean 'sewing', or were you asking if guys that own the kite company plant seeds together?

Hello Slavey,

Ozone make Foils for snowkiting, foils for mountainboarding, foils for racing buggies as well as numerous trainer kites. They also make paragliders, paramotor wings, and speed flying wings as shown on the end of the video.

They do not make doonas for kitesurfing. They do make a range of clothing as well to suit snow conditions.

Inflateable kites make up only a percentage of their overall product range.

Hi Coose,

The difference is Ozone own their own manufacturing factory and employ their own people. One of the head designers owns and lives on the premises and can walk through the facility daily checking on quality. This gives Ozone a high degree of quality control over every kite that is produced, including the fabrics, Ozone40D (their own blend of fabric).

They also make paragliders which have extremely high demands on quality of materials and accuracy of panel alignment and stitching for obvious reasons, the same procedures and high standards are adhered to when making kites.

Chinese sweatshops have lesser Quality control from the company that places the order once the company rep has left.

There really is a difference. The difference is no "Friday Kites"

Hey Harley,

I'd love to but I don't have a 15m Sport for you to demo. I have one I can sell you!

Besides I am taking all the Instinct and Airush kites with me for a demo tour up north in September. Going as far as Exmouth and most spots in between, Cocos is a litle out of the way

I do have a 2008 Airush Protoy Exile-L, light wind board you can borrow if I haven't sold it by then. Similar to riding with a 15m on your 12m. Call me!

Have fun in the Cocos .... Bar Stud!

Hi Alex,

I don't sell Paragliders or Paramotors ..... yet!, something about having to know how to fly them before you can sell them responsibly or some crap. Pfffft! [}:)]

I did a quick search and came up with a bunch of phone numbers for you. try this website.

Have fun and once you have one, you can teach me!

Cheers,

Very nice vid, slick production.

Be interesting to hear what level of knowledge the workers have of the kites they are making and I wonder if any of them kite themselves.

Can't be much of a sweat shop if Friday isn't just like the other six days of the week.

flysurfer.

having a kite manufactured by the kite company doesnt exclude it from being ****.

quality is well down the list for me. The kite can be fkd after 5 months for all i care.

Its how it flys that matters.
