After insufficient wind last weekend, we are good to go for tomorrow Saturday 12th November. The comp will be held approximately 3km north of the Wedge Island settlement.

We have received just over 50 registrations for what promises to be a packed competitive field.

Safety briefing and outline of the day's event will be at 11.00am with the first heats commencing immediately after that.

We expect to wrap up the competition by 6.00pm. Competitors and supporters are invited to attend the post event presentations at the Lancelin Beach Hotel (1 North Road, Lancelin) from 7.30pm. Counter meals will be available also.

WAKSA greatly appreciates the support received from Kite Addiction for this event.

See you all @ Wedge tomorrow...

How long will it take to get up there from Perth?

Will it be family friendly with sunshade etc, don't think my little ones will make the late afternoon but I think I will be kicked out of my heat / heats fairly quickly anyway?

I am excited and sh!tting myself at the same time, never been in a surf type comp before .

Cheers

I rewcon you should leave the kids at home, they wont enjoy themselves, unless you leave them in the car all day long, its impossible to keep out the sand from the eyes ears mouth etc, you get the picture

Perth to Wedge is approx 2, 2.15 hr drive.

Go to end of Mitchell Freeway, exit Burns Beach Road. Head to Lancelin Road, keep going north past Lancelin turn off.

We will leave one of our WAKSA A-frame signs by the side of the road marking the turn off into Wedge.

Beach is usually hard packed sand (2wd should be ok - driver discretion advised) but it may be worthwhile letting some air out of your tyres.
