G'day fellas I got all excited today about a possible seabreeze and got my kit sorted by restitching a popped/unravelling seam with a big needle and some lightweight fishing braid- its all that I could get my hands on and I guess better than just cotton. Has anyone else used this? It looks alright and is plenty strong the only thing im worried about is that it might be too abrasive and cut through the cloth. Aswell second part of the question is there something better I can use that available and can be used by hand with a needle? I live in the middle of nowhere so its pretty expensive to send my kite to a professional just to fix five cm of canopy seam. Thanks for any advice.

I don't see why your repair wouldn't work.

Dental floss would work great as well if you had nothing else handy. The real stuff (what kite manufacturers use) is called bonded polyester thread. It's known for being strong and resistant to salt water and UV rays. It comes in various thicknesses and colors. you can get a roll of this for $30 delivered on Ebay or other specialized shops Online. Sail makers usually sell those as well.

It's nice to have this thread with a couple of needles in your repair kit everywhere you go.

Stitched a pair of boots back together with 100lb fishing braid. Seems to be holding up better than the original stitching ever did.

basic repair kit , have used braid and whipping for repairs then put sticky backed sail tape over top. very successful if you do not have a sewing machine handy,. patches ,sandpaper ,needles a good small scissors, and some spare main line
always have if your travelling

Thanks for the input fellas I've been building up my repair kit by buying extra of whatever I have to fix at the time but it looks like ill have to go through the whole gamut of repairs before I have it perfect, just having it has probably saved five or six sessions though.
