damn.....
but 20kts and 150 kiters.......no thanks....
I'd like to know how many $$$$ worth of equipment was totalled?
Bet ya wish yer gear was tax deductable now....heheheee.
I saw a couple of kites get trashed in the waves, maybe some lines got damaged there were a few contacts but not as many as you would think. Plenty of kites went down in the surf, but they escaped unscathed most of the time. The scene was dominated by Slingshot and Cabrinha kites this year, those two brand outnumbered all the other brands by at least 5/6:1
It looks hell busy from the beach, but when you are on the water and have been out there for more than 15 mins you realise there is some method to the madness, and you work out a place to kite.
Biggest hassle was a few kiters who had no idea what to do when approaching another kiter head on, it was the same few all weekend, nothing unusual really.
There were some of maniac poleboarders, a couple of them mowed me down while I was demonstrating how to not SUP. I later found out that it was a conspiracy hatched on the beach, they were both actually aiming for me and I thought it was an accident.
I know of at least 2 SUP boards that got bent/creased, I guess they are just do big that they can't withstand hitting the sand hard?
If I can kite around out there and not get in the way then anyone can! :-)
