Hey Jev,

your options are:

1) come in by boat or aircraft and camp at the national parks camping ground

2) work as a volunteer at the research station and stay there

3) stay at the resort ($800pp/pn) and have your servant carry your kite gear down the beach and pump it up for you

4) stay on a boat

If you do a search on "Lizard" you'll see some past threads where we discussed riding at the island.

Marvin from In Da Loop kiteboarding Townsville is going up this weekend on his inaugural fly/camp mission, I think the plan is to run them regularly with 4-5 participants. Fly in friday fly out sunday kite for a day and a half (which is about all you can handle unless you are very kite-fit), they were talking less than $500pp.

Not sure of any boats doing a regular kite trip there although several have done 1-off trips. Boat is a good option if you have a team of people, its just the trip back to Cairns or Cooktown into the teeth of the 20-30kn SE which is the killer there.

Tobes has done a 10 day stint at the station so can fill you in there.

This place looks sick! If I was to go there and wanted to camp, it looks like the campsite is on the wrong side of the island to the SE trade winds, does that mean you need a boat after you get there too?

it is good that the campside is on the other side of the island, otherwise u wld not be able to have your tents set up since it blows its tits of 24hrs on lizard.
the campsite is at watsons bay, quite protected with rocks and bush behind the campsites.

It is about a beautiful 50min bushwalk to the lagoon, passing through mangroves, bush and sand dunes.

Very interested in your Lizard Isl trips, as i said in one of my posts, i know the place very well from having sailed our boat up there a couple of years and experienced the fantastic conditions. How much is the trip inclusive. I live down at Alva Beach so the drive to Townsville is not an issue and in free most weekends. Talk soon.

Get a job there with fisheries counting snails in the tide pools.
