The Happy Story of a Cheeky Board:

Swannie, WA.

Saturday 19th.

A jump. A line broke...

Self rescue.

Lost Board.

Easterlies blows for the next few days.

+++++

Wednesday 23rd.

Rottnest Island, 30 km offshore from Swannie.

Phone call.

A snorkeler found the board 4 days after the loss, floating off the western point of Rottnest Island.

Moral: write name and phone number on your board.

PS: 4 years ago, the same board was found early in the morning beached 2 km downwind from another self rescue in Swannie the day before.

man that's lucky.

I had to do a self rescue yesterday after an "equipment malfunction" about 300m off shore. so I connected my leash to my boards grab handle, so it would just trail behind me and I wouldn't lose it. That frees up your hands for the self rescue. Luckily it was very onshore conditions, so I sailed right to shore in about 5min.

... lucky you! I got blown off my board, hit with a gust and too much wind in a cross-off wind, thought it was just behind me, nothing. Spent next hour cruising up and down looking for it! Lost foreve,r or more likely some one found it but I didn't have my name on it Taught me a lesson though!

Good story dude,

cheers,

Robbie

Hi Rick,

Hey cheers again! The Airush Switch Pro has been cheriched for years and more to come I find it perfect for riding overpowered, going through the swell and approaching ramps at high speed to jump high :))) It is very bad at staying upwind (coz it needs lots of speed to keep planning) and does not have any pop so I understand that this is no longer a popular board.

I was glad that it was my light wind board (the Nobile 666) and not the Airush that I lost. The Airush would be sooooo hard to replace because new boards are designed either for flat water, wave riding or speed, but not for old school ocean fast cruising and jumping (or does a speed board do it?).

So yes, the old Airush is by far the preferred board of my quiver.

Good story dude,

Robbie,

Cheers. I like happy stories

A phone number on the board is best than a name (or both) :)
