601 602 - just like you'd normally surf if you were a good surfer (which of course you may be)-squash or swallow tail, 18 1/4- 18 1/2 wide - 2 1/4 thick - standard short board. There's plenty of used ones around-just grab anything near those dimensions and go get em'.

I just got a 6' x 18.25" x 2.25" daLewy custom, made for kitesurfing.
its got 2 x 6oz glass on the deck rather than 2 x 4oz. rocker and fins tweaked slightly to suit kiting and straps added. still super light.
it has the fcs peanut system for extra strength holding the fins.

Tried my Firewire 5'11 unstrapped today for the first time, initial impression is very good, looking forward to more wind tomorrow for a proper session.

Loco4olas is onto it with some good advise.

I couldn't help myself though and bought a new board.
At 1.78 & 90 kg I have had several strapless sessions now on my new 6'2" 18 3/4, 2 1/2 squash tail Firewire (including some decent size swell at Lancelin on Wednesday) and am totally loving it.
My strapped board is also 6'2" but is 18 1/4 2 1/4 swallow tail Pat Rawson epoxy.

That doesn't sound like much difference in dimensions but they feel completely different the PR is quite a bit narrower and sharper in the tail and would probably handle steeper, faster waves better but is definetly bouncier and doesn't feel or turn nearly as good as the Firewire especially off the top.
