Most rain (in a day) since 1955 here in Melbs....

That's like a double flush for all storm water pipes around the bay, so yeah
give it a few days to settle before you venture in or give it a miss if you've got
cuts/open wounds...

Try Inverloch once the wind settles if your super keen or don't want to watch AUS v Russia (Channel 9 12pm sat) or Geelong win another AFL flag!!!

Cheers

Driving home from Mordy along Beach Rd was challenging enough in my Kombi, let alone kiting today! Looked pretty mad out there...

This from superlizard....

www.theage.com.au/environment/sustainability/storm-of-protest-as-sewage-released-into-waterways-20111002-1l3x0.html

Curious how long it actually takes for the harmful bacteria/deseases to get disolved once it gets into the ocean?

But it's a bit concerning when you think about it (assuming you think about it), imagine all those sick and deseased people's sh1t potentially being taken by currents to your kite spot...

Nice to see the water authorities concerned about kitesurfers though...

If you can't be bothered reading the article... here's some key points....

RAW sewage has been released into Melbourne's creeks and rivers for at least the fifth time this year with Moonee Ponds and Merri creeks suffering the latest releases during last Wednesday's storm.

Melbourne Water said sewerage releases during major storms were a ''failsafe to reduce pressure and prevent sewage backing up through household drains''. But James Clark-Kennedy from the Clean Ocean Foundation said the latest sewage release should ''enrage Melburnians''.
''Kite surfers are out there fully immersed during these storm events,'' he said.

Melbourne Water issued a statement recommending the public avoid ''direct contact with this waterway . for at least the next 48 hours''
