Does anybody have an old slingshot bar/lines lying in a shed. I am after the part that the bottom cleat screws to. Nobody has a spare, Slingshot thinks they may get some in mid December. It is actually called a C loop cleat holder and I broke mine trying to get a broken stainless screw out of it. I have attached a photo ( not very clear)

showing the holder on the left and the cleat which I have.
Thanking you in advance.

as it screws directly into the depower rope any cleat will do, if you go to sailing/boating store they should have one that would do the job

mine did the same thing. the stainless screws both snapped when I tried to get them out to replace the depower rope. Still can't get them out to remove the line and replace the seized swivle in the cl. I have another bar, but its larger. I have used it with my 7mt but would be nice to have this bar back up and running....

He's not after the cleat guys.
Do you know anyone with access to a metal lathe. They could make something up from a piece of nylon round bar. It's a pretty basic piece. It doesn't even need to be cylindrical, just needs the right size hole through the centre.

Another although more costly option is to put another brand of chicken loop in.

Well done. And quick! The only issue maybe the angle that the cleat sits. You may need to taper a flat down the side to get the same ergonomics, but see how she goes.

nice work mickm
We have a few of those cleat housings you were chasing.
Just for the record "Kite Surf SUP" (thats in Perth) has starting a wrecking yard for old kite bits and pieces.
Encouraging kiters to pass in old kites & bars for dismantling to parts. What we get for free goes out for free (or a donation to team KSS in the WAKSA RedKite Downwinder).
So many brands not supporing spare parts after just a few seasons. People are stoked when you have some odd bit that keeps their kite alive a while longer.
All donations gratefully received.

Nice work Mickm

Just keep an eye on the 'fit' of the line through the hole. Some polymers (nylon?) absorb water and swell up (similar to timber).

Many years ago I made some 'bits' for diving out of a similar looking material and I had to 'adjust' the clearances after they had been used a few times.

very good idea, could do with an 07 Yarga deflate/inflate screw!

The cleat actually is not flat at the base. I think that SS borrowed it from a sailing app and fits perfectly on the curve. Apart from the fact that it does not look as good I think that it is stronger than the original.

I just thought the cleat didn't sit parallel to the run of the rope on that fitting. It was angled to better cleat in/out?
cheers
