depends on the style. size and how long you want it to last.

you want a 30 foot cable park quality A-frame your looking at like 5k.

if u do a pvc pipe slider couple hundred bucks.

if its wood use treated pine.

you can get away with floating kickers but sliders not really, much more critical to hit.

really, whats more important is its sex appeal. no matter how c.r.a.p your slider is. as long as it looks goooooooood.

I may know someone(disclaimer)who made a 15m slider for free. And a 25m for free too. Not too hard to find the materials but it was all possible in a french plumbers van. The most succesful one was 8 borrowed pallets and 4 borrowed highway rails (The M shape ones) And 1 set of old fly lines. 1 box of candles and plywood boards for durability. I broke 3 boards before working out that one.

Knock the top 2 boards of the pallet, Then sit 2 pallets in a A shape. Tie off the bottoms so they dont spread. Lay the M rail on top and tie down onto the X at the top of the pallets. Becomes super stable if you can tie good truckie knots. Wax the top regularly as its way more slippery and will protect it from rusting. Rust will eat through any board base.

It will be semipermanent and needs to sit in 10 - 30 cm of water.
You will need 10 people to move it around.
Use 5 line kites cause I saw 4 suicide leashed up people badly injure themselves being dragged into the slider and 2 times looping kites trash it.

If any one asks,,,,,(disclaimer)its your own idea and you didnt get any ideas from me.

Best not do it on weekends as sailing club not going to be happy if slider in middle of race course. Also might check with other local kiters. Youre not going to be popular if U get kiting banned here! Maybe WAKSA could give you some guidelines.

If you do want to float it waffle pods ( big foam blocks that go under concrete) are really good you just have to cover them. I've heard you get them where they are they are doing alot of concreteing..

Anyone know about the best direction to place sliders to hit? Directly downwind or on a bit of an angle?

Ive hit a few with a wakeboard winch but its pretty easy to find the right direction when you're doing that! Haha

the best angle is the angle that your kite is pulling when your riding. So just have it paralel to your lines. you want to be pulled along it not off it. I was told this by mauricio

it would just depend on what side you are best at hitting it on would it

im going to try one, found a perfect 6m long 1 foot wide pine pallet next to a skip this morning on my run, im going to go pick it up later.

if i get PVC pipe along it, it should be like the ones we used when snow boarding.

the waffle pods are a brilliant idea... thanks sorse, i had forgot about them

Mate that makes absolutely no sense at all haha but cheers for trying.. Haha I'll get it sussed... Still gotta build it too. Should make this summer entertaining anyway!

Got some early footage of my mate's winch setup that we set up last summer if anyone cares to watch it... Pretty fun for practicing rails

yea we sould check with darren and some of the locals and see what they think, most of the time i found the wind more ssw but i dont know, otherwise we can move up more towards doggy beach aka upwind of the school so we cant get in teh way of bodydraggin learners?

Michael email Waksa and see what they say about the idea, i think whitfords or doggy beach would be sweet.

as to slider angle what sorse said sounds the smartest, itl b about 45 - 60 degrees up from downwind because that is the angle your kite is flying at, you want your kite pullin u straight down it not across or off it. trial and error will tell all! set up for goofy riding btw, just thought id let ya know

Bellz I'll be putting it in Australind out the front of my oldies house.

At the start of summer should be able to drive a car out early at low tide. Then i'll just dump it on the sand and wait til the arvo... hahaha should be fun... Dunno what the council will have to say about it tho haha
