I'm heading up to Shark Bay with a couple of mates just after Christmas till just after new years.
I have searched a few Seabreeze forums and found out the basic kiting locations, Little/Big Lagoon/Denham.

Any tips from kiters who have made the trip, any advice you care to pass on down the line?

I am looking at giving Shell Beach a crack? I have been there years ago back in the uni/non kiting days. All I remember is super shallow flat water. Is this location protected by the wind?

What about Nanga and Whalebone Bay?
Sure there all good and uncrowded, but are some better spots than others?
Oh and whilst I'm at it, any attractions I should check out whilst I'm up that way?

Big / Little and Foreshore all good spots
At low tides no water over the shallows at Foreshore and Big Lagoon
Big L is 4WD and exceptional fkat water site.
Parks warning re stone fish and cone shells at Big L
Some locals say Ocean Park collect their stone fish from Little Lagoon.
Doesn't stop most from kiting these locations.
Nanga looks good but I have not kited it.
Downwinder from Eagle Bluff to Denham if you can organise transport.

I have heard of a few windsurfers that stay at nanga and it sounds pretty good with the natural spa's to recover in.

That time of year it blows non stop check the graphs. It's usually nothing under 20knots almost all day and night.
Shelly Beach is very salty and I think part of the national park there are heaps fo other spots.
Nanga bay is awesome Ive kited there a few years ago. If you've got a 4wd go into the Peron national park and kite the Big Lagoon. Also little Lagoon on the way to Monkey Mia. Just watch the stone fish near the entrance to the lagoon. Nicholson Point is also good and offers some nice spits to boost at low tide.
Its a magic spot enjoy and respect.

Underoath if you want a real adventure catch the plane to dirk hartog with Margaret at shark bay air charters, its $250 for up to six,stay a few days at the homestead, kite tetradon loop or if your feeling brave surf point,south passage on a good swell they roll for a km and are that across but dump your kite and its all over the missus will be cashing in the life policy I've kited a few times its an amazing place kieron and Tory do a great job over there ,check out the website

You need real 4wd for sure to get to big lagoon. If you have a boat take that too and a skipper, and I reckon you could do an awesome downwinder/scenic tour down the lagoon (it goes forever it looks like!).

Stop at the homestead for a bbq and artesian spa on the way home- Rob S can also vouch for that!

When I was there the track was pretty rough we were in a Patrol but it was a rental so no lift and cookie cutter (thin) hwy tyres. There was one other group there , a family in a prado with a small offroad camper..... but it was lifted and had bar work.
I reckon you could get in there in a cx-9 (might have more difficulty coming out ) but you will also aquire some major bush pin striping and possibly lose your front and rear bumpers.

As knickers said.... stop at the homestead on the way back. after a few days camping and kiting the lagoon the hot spring is the perfect remedy.

You should be fine. I was there a few months ago and went to Big Lagoon and all the way up to the point in a little Mitsi ASX. There are air stations at the start of the track (homestead) drop your tyres to 18ish (leaves a bit if you do get stuck) the track to Big Lagoon is a bit corrugated but a breeze really. Saw heaps of captivas and the like in there.
Honestly I didnt rate Big Lagoon at all. Shell Beach was better and a few K's north of Shell Beach on the western side there is a bay that had a sweet sandbar protecting it from all the swell/wind chop. Might have just been the conditions at the time.

Sorry champ.

That was some afternoon sea breeze, I drove the coast road today, the wind just kept getting stronger the further up the coast I traveled. The ocean at Greenhead/Freshwater was wild!

Once I made it to Gero I went to kite at Hells today, (2 people ouit) however my bridal on my switchblade snapped on launch!! Must find a replacement tomorrow.

Kinda glad it didn't happen 500m off the peninsular. That would have been a bit of a piss off.

Went around to back beach and had a ball on a bigger kite 8m, I love backers the waves break so far out the back compared to any beach break in Perth.

I was a tad overpowered on my 8m.....

Tomorrow Coronations. I'll post some pics tomorrow. Swell and winds are up.
