Ok so I took my new sea specs (Xmas pressie) for their 2nd voyage. I had been thinking of some sort of leash set up, but was of course in too much of a rush to get out there Half decent stack, kite in the drink, sea specs gone...

Just ordered a pair of Seabreeze Sunnies, great service by the way, here within 48hours!! That's pretty damn good for WA. I think they are a better set up than the sea specs as they have a good elastic strap and fit better.

Just wondering if the crew has any bright ideas to attach the sunnies. I was thinking an extra loop through the wetty zip strap? anyone have a better idea? or do you just rely on the strap already there?

I can't keep buying new sunnies

Pelican sea do a simple leash for sunnies. I lost a couple of pairs before i finally got one. It just clips to your wetie zip or loop on your rashie. Have had a few big stacks and not lost em. Or just make one.

I have been using Sea Specs for years but might try the Seabreeze next time. I use a bright-coloured boot lace to attach the specs to me. Would otherwise have lost them loads of times. Of course, a surf hat would also do the job. Cheers.

Try a lanyard and clip it to your specs, lots of places give them away as promotions

Tie a shoe lace (or string) through the (connected) arms of the sunnies. Make the shoe lace loop so it can fit relatively tight over your head and around your neck. Then when your sunnies fall off they should be dangling around your neck on the shoe lace.

Not that this worked for me last weekend. I think the arm can off the sunnies and I was just left with a shoe lace around my neck. Bloody expensive water-sport sunnies. I'm going back to $10 safety glasses.

I suggest using a weak Link of sorts if your going to be putting things round your neck (strongly do not recomend string or shoe laces) I have in the past used a small plastic/rubber tube that is strong enough not to break on impact but weak enough that if you happened to get tangled in your lines or bar its going to snap and not going to rip your head off or hang you simmilar to the flouro tubing fisher folk put on there hooks as a lure i am sure you could find it by the meter

I use a small caribina tied to the end of the 'zip strap' on my wetsuit.
Intially I did it as a quick fix to get out on the water but it works so well I have kept it.
If my wetsuit is on, the sunny leash is also on. Clip the caribina into the loop on the sunny strap and you're good to go.

Note: clip into the loop on the strap, not just onto the strap. That way if an arm comes off the sunnies they are still attached.

Hope this helps

forget around ya neck or wetty who wears a one in summer anyway . i got a small piece of rope and made it loop long enough so you can put ya arm though it and tied that to sunnys so rope ends up at arm pit . Have had sunny riped of head in some megga crashes and sunnys just swinging on arm .

not sure if laurie has upgraded his sunnies spec (?) (the SB version was the first pair I bought in 2008) but the strap was neoprene (kinda elastic) and because of this they came off easier than the seaspecs model which has a rigid strap

if this is still the case, some kind of lanyard will be necessary

other option (if you lose these) is to buy a cheap pair from the servo, drill holes at the end of each arm and use a rigid shoe lace as the strap. My personal fave is a pair of Elvis sunnies with shoe lace strap

You must have a pointy shaped head to lose the Seaspecs! Once you cinch up the strap to firm I couldn't see them coming off in the surf. I've worn them for years and the only time I've replaced them is when I stand on them by accident...

My oakley's have a piece of elastic that goes snug around your neck (as it is elastic) and then a short line to the Sunnies strap.

has saved me from losing them heaps of times!

Haha yeh as you can see I need a leash

No matter how tight I get that strap they keep coming off?
I actually had the sea specs on my forehead as I was riding in after cloud cover came over. I agree that the ridged strap would stay on when tight

Thanks for the ideas guys, Think ill go for a carabina or a clip through wetty zip strap. Agree leash around the neck might have some interesting consequences

This is another option and better priced - look up safetyquip.com.au Smoke Bolle Cobra glasses. They have a soft rubber seal with vent holes on the inside..
No arms sticking in your head if you wear a helmet.
Just tie a bit of old kite line to the elastic and attach to zipper on wetty or a small hole in your rashy and youll never lose them again...

Have wiped out landing loops at warp speed and it will RIP off any sunnies not tied to you
High impact rated so great for face plants too lol

THE SOLUTION = PRIEST COLLAR

Elastic = collar size + 3 cms/ 3cms dynema or chord/1 fishing shackle + sewing

=

Cheers
