So what is the go with the race boards? has anyone used them for the races?? why does it look like everyone is on twin tips??
The reason nobody is using them at botany is:
There not setting a proper upwind/downwind course to suit the dedicated course boards, instead they run a triangle course with a very short beat upwind followed by 2 long reaches so the advantage of having the course board is very little if not nonexistent. Which is a real same because they have the 4 cabrinha course boards there but nobody is willing to put in the time and effort involved in learning how to ride them because the course doesn't suit..
Ive been riding the 2011 North race LTD for the past couple of months and have finally got the tacks and gybes down consistent and let me say if they set a legit upwind/downwind course a twintip or surfboard wouldn't stand a chance against a dedicated course board..
Hats off to steve and the crew at wind surf and snow for getting the Race series up and running tho
Hi Brad
I've definitely been setting a stiff upwind first tack, especially since we spoke and you gave me some feedback about the courses, but unfortunately you have not turned up to see how far upwind the first buoy is. The last 2 courses and especially last weeks was much more elongated and upwind/downwind.
I've learned a lot about setting the courses, but readily admit I've still got a lot to learn too. I'd really appreciate seeing some people grab the demo course boards, 2 are available here, and 2 are at WS&S and learning how to use them then compete, they will leave the TT's and surfboards for dead and then we would see some really real racing in Sydney.
However the racing we are having is real and it is real fun judging from the looks on the riders faces and comments from them afterwards.
Looking at the scores the title and main prize is still up for grabs so the last night of summer racing will be exciting for sure, please see if you can make it and help throw a cat amongst the pigeons LOL's.
