Is anyone doing this?
Not inflating the kite and not what you do in bed with your new kite but pumping the bar to get more speed or longer hang time. I just went back to sailboarding after 20 years layoff and instinct kicked in and I needed to pump the sail a lot to get going and thought I would try the same on the kite and see if the same result is achieved. Been kiting for years and never tried it but it does seam to work and you can feel the acceleration with just a few smooth consistent pumps of the bar. Jumps I'm finding you can get a little better hang time but only sometimes as I'm not the best at long hang and sometimes I come down harder and other times the kite can fly further forward than you anticipate but let's put that down to my poor form. Maybe others are doing this and I just never noticed but would be good to see if others have successwith it.

when you "pump" the bar all you are doing is scrubbing off wind/lift/power

your apparent power increase is only possible not because of increase power from kite but from decreaseing power of kite for a short period which lets your board settle deeper in the water then repowering kite giving the board a better edge to plane with.
