hi any input would be appreciated as just about to buy one if these. I am 90kg and use a TT and directional and although not a big fan for light wind kites they do serve a purpose. Any thoughts on which kite might be quicker to turn and which might drift better . I will be using this in sub 14kn conditions when any waves are likely to be very much on small side . Any other comments would be appreciated

If you dont have a kite that will stay in the air in under 14 knts then owning a foil board wont make an ounce of difference to the way that kite
flys. Most good foil kites will usually out perform any LEI kite in light wind and would be something well considered if you are wanting to regularly going out in marginal wind.

Get onto Peutz. He's the expert on 17 Juice. All his kiting is on this kite. He's a lot bigger than a mere 90 kgs.

For the price of a foil kite you could have a foil board and have some change for some beers.

I used my Airush 10m wave with my foil for my first few sessions, was a lot more fun than a big ass kite mowing the lawn. Been there done that.

Foiling is much more fun and way, way more engaging than bashing around with a stupidly slow big ass kite which more than likely has heavy bar pressure too.

Do you have places to foil ? If so consider what the crew said above. My biggest kite is a 10m and I only get they out for 25 knot bump and jump on a TT. Foil the rest. Big kites ... nah.

... I love my 17 Juice. I have last years model 2018 which is slightly heavier than the latest version. They've made a few bridle changes to aid the relaunch abilities in 4 line mode with the latest version but for most of it, they are very similar.

Like a lot of the modern light wind specific kites designed now, they are great at their light wind job. Very efficient and NOT a truck when the wind picks up. But just as important, they can handle their upper wind range well too which was very important factor for me. I didn't think a 3 strut kite would be stable enough but I can confirm, the 17m Juice can go in a lot more wind than advertised. It remains stable when over powered and yet still be a brilliant agile light wind kite.

I used to have a 19m Edge and yes the Juice has less power but the Juice is soooooo much more agile that it makes up for it that way. Way more fun.

For me, it turns super quick when you want it too especially if you load up against it so its a big boys wave kite.

Despite it being pretty high aspect, it can drift, not as good as a wave specific kite, sure, but man its good enough to have fun.

The Juice can not only handle TT's well, ie handles being loaded up for jumps etc with great hang but it feels right at home on directionals too, like surfboards and even an old school race board, or best of all, a Sector.

I recently discovered it goes good on a foil too so yep, it does what its advertised as.

I've tried the latest version Juice in size 15 and it felt like its got the same static power of my 2018 17m but the 15m turns much faster with lighter bar pressure too. The construction is lighter so potentially a better light wind kite as it seems to hang in the sky a bit better when wind is super light.

I've only seen the small Ultra's so I can't say how they compare to each other but based on my previous big single strut kite experience, they don't like it when the wind picks up. I suspect the single strut might lead to it being fantastic in light stuff but won't have the capacity to be mucho fun as the wind picks up.

Hopefully you can try both and see for yourself which one you like.

Cheers,

Robbie :)

FTW get a Zephyr!!!

Gets me going in round 9kts with a big board (160 tt). Manageable to around 20kts+, and I'm only 70kg.
Drifts well and loops like a kite half its size.
And talk about BOOST!!!!
