Take your big kite. 20 knots of warm tropical wind is more like 15 knots of denser southern air. If the wind is blowing get onto it. I scored a couple of good days, but there was not enough wind on the others. They have Sups now for hire & lessons at 4 Mile now too so there is something to do on light wind days.

I took my surfboard - with good wind there are some good waves along 4 Mile Beach down towards the surf club, and also above the Mowbray River mouth (but its an upwind haul to get there).

You can also do a cruise out to Low Isles on Sailaway and taking your gear but can only kite there now at high tide, so check with Brett before you head out there.

Coming into Port there was good wind at Ellis Beach and Rex Lookout, but not enough at Port Douglas, so it pays to keep an eye on various locations, and to be careful if you do a downwinder.

When its pumping, its great . . . but I didn't make any progress with duck tacks.
