Ridiculous skills. Super cool.

What is the deck on those wake skates that makes it so grippy with sneakers?

Its the same as the Cab Nugget thingy... soft spongy and apparently the option of skate deck grip too.

Thats the best kite-short in ages. Keen to see the new ACL features.

Ate my breakfast watchin that this morning - great video... Got me beat how Dre can get those varial(?) flips without the wind flicking the board away...

I anyone's keen for more - check out the Cabrinha Convert promo video on the Cabrinha website - both Nugget and Wakeskate clips of similar moves :)

i'm pretty happy that however fast i may learn, this sport is progressing in so many directions that there will never be a possibility of boredom. this and the strapless surf stuff on the new bandit vid make me grin ear-to-ear just watching.

(having said that, watching dre busting old-school moves in boots will always be rad)

why do we so rarely see the camera angle that's used from 2:00-2:05 ? combined with the slo-mo it shows such a detailed perspective on what the rider is doing throughout the trick. me want more

Pretty sure that's the Red One camera... Not many camera's can be that stable AND have that kind of zoom - There was a post a while ago talking about the insane costs of the Red One... although expect to see more of it in the future...

It's most likely just being cropped and filtered for stability and smooth panning.
The advantage with higher and higher res cameras (with a lens that can actually outresolve the sensor... another story altogether but a pet hatred of mine) is that you can use all that extra digital realestate to compensate for jittery panning or for objects moving at irregular speeds - much like kiters. ;)

The Red kit is some really sensational stuff to use, but you really do get what you pay for.

thats really nice footage - but it could have been shot on a $5000 camera or a $75000 camera-
if you are going to web or SD DVD you wont be able to pick the red footage from something well shot on a SONY EX1 , Panasonic HVX 200 / hpx 170. All these cameras can do overcrank slo mo very nicely.

you have to go to HI DEF (any one here authoring blu ray yet ? - i thought not) or Projection to really pick the differences. How many of these Red owners are producing footage that is going to cinema? Apart from PJ and SS - Not many.

With the red You do have a bit more digital cropping to get in tight / run stablise functions in post (due to the pixels at play). And each frame can be used as a hi quality still

Word is that Reds are unreliable in he field - i know a guy who had one shutting off intermittently every 30 seconds during a heli shoot in a $1400 per hour heli) and the workflow too is Super demanding on hardware and the files are massive. And the workflow is unreliable too...

so for ten times the price of a quality 3 ccd Hidef cam you decide if its really worth it...

I think you will find it is normal skate grip tape........

That what we have on our wake skate ....and it rips your feet and toes apart hence the sneakers.

i agree -its nice footage! Definitley and enjoyable watch - and awesome skills.

i am just a bit touchy about the overhype on the RED camera. Pretty soon misled clients will be wanting me to buy one becuase they have been hyped into thinking its the ducks nuts -thats a lot of bucks - for a near zero gain in production quality ..

And for some contrast - check this awesome vid out:

**disclaimer - video may not actually be awesome***

Hurricane 65ft jump

the comments under the video on the youtube page are hilarious.

i'll shut up now!
