A couple pics from my new GoPro. Has anyone got any good rigs to get good angles?
I remember someone having an over he shoulder view that was pretty good.

I'll say - those angles are all good!

Thanks for sharing.

I been playing with different mounts.

Nose of board good for video on R4

I did a line mount too. Used the square black mount that the camera comes with in the box, drilled some holes in it and attached it to my centrelines with cable ties. Very jerky video, but will take pics next time.

Below are some screen captures all from video. Great toy!!

Corey,

Have you got the camera on a short stalk and you hold it to take pictures?

Yeah, Ive got in on a pole about 40cm or so. Its a handle from a fishing rod, I put some fishing floats on the end aswell to give me a chance if I drop if. I also used a leash to be double sure.

I made a little poly pipe 'holster' for my harness so when I tack out I can put it in there.

Its not the most comfy thing in the world, but works ok.

I tried the line mount with an old camera I had, but the same as everyone else, it was shaky as hell. Not bad if you just go straight and park your kite, but terrible otherwise.

I thought that over the shoulder rig, like the one Top Hat uses could be cool. Looks like you could still kite normally with it.

the camera set up is cool and is getting you good angles, whats the success rate like? shooting every 3 sec makes it hard to get that critical moment anyway?

what about your other new toy, when will we get a review of that surfboard?

I'm looking to get one and found this great site which has all of the GoPro made mounts, and do a few custom ones themselves - pole extensions, handles, wrist mounts, 'flat lenses' (converts from Fish-eye to standard).

Tres cool angle Corey but could be dramas if it gets tangled up with the bar or safety release?

Anybody got any good suggestions for mounts for non GP cameras?

I'm shooting video so line mounts don't seem like a flash idea. Am toying with the idea of strapping the camera accross my vest.

I have a Lumix TS2 and am stoked with the camrig mount so far but a bit of variety of angle would be nice.

EDIT:

Er.. rather than hijacking your post - I'll strat a new thread. Good luck with the vids.

Nerk is the man when it comes to kite videos:

Re the line mount:
I have taken some footage with this and am currently in the process of "deshaking it". By using Virtualdub and Deshaker you can make it watchable if you have the time and computing power! I will write a post on the methods I use to make this watchable once I have something useful- hopefully in the near future

Here's a little video from my first session with the GoPro HD a few weeks ago, the seabreezes had just started to come back, but not much in the way of swell.
I stuck a mount on the tail of the board, one on a helmet, and used the helmet as a stationary camera on the beach.

Nice work Tobes.
If you hadnt said anything we'd all swear you had at least two cams working.
Very clever.

Must be a pain dealing with the crowds there everyday !

Nice. Great editing too. Can I send you about 12 hours of footage to compress down to 3 minutes?!

Tobes that's awesome, would've taken ages to put together!
I've been using the end of the board mount and a helmet mount for lack of anything else.

Thanks fellas, hopefully the next one will have some real action. And a few more things to stick the camera on.

Yep puppet, the sharks, bluebottles and piles of rotting muttonbirds on the beach help to keep the crowds down. I'd mention the cold too, but KiteDevil just trumped me. Booties!
