The underhand grip he had on the bar was the prelude to a bad day on the water.
However, Reuben if you're watching, that is how to loop a kite.

I was there when that happened it was steady 40+mph and He brought his kite up right when a waterspout was overtaking him! He landed within a few feet of shore in a inch of water. His helmet was broken in half resulting in a concussion. The cameraman was looking at me with the camera pointed at the water and happened to catch some of it. The video is real! He actually released his leash and chickenloop while in the air and landed past his kite a 5m ozone light. I tried to talk him out of going but he had 7 days of lessons so he was ready! NOT!

...........and to think some people on this forum advocate wearing a board leash.

That video is the perfect example as to how you could have your head taken off.

I'd love to believe that this footage is true but am too sceptical to believe that is a 5m kite.

How tall is the guy launching? 3foot tall

I dont reckon he could have pulled the pin doing McTwists and getting rag dolled through the air either.

Break a helmet in half while impacting in water?

Concussion? more like death if that was true
