Went out for a quick session today...... had the family so couldnt ride long (((remind me never to bring them kiting again??!!))..
It was average conditions.... 16-20kt gusts, cross on, 2ft swell, marginal at best. I got out and sent it hard anyway.
Came in, landed my kite.... wrapping it up and some dude rocks up... "hey mate".... at first, I was like...who is this guy?? Do I know him??
No, he just wanted to quiz me on kiting.
"how much do those cost?"
me-"ohh.... yeah pretty expensive... about 2-3k at least...."
"and the board?"
"yeah at least $1000.....+ harness.... 2-300"
"oh yeah sweet.... yeah i'd be keen... you were getting some big air"
me thinkin... come to (SECRET SPOT).... see how much air we get there in 25kts, onshore, F8cken send it HARD with the 10m at least...!!
"yeah mate, do you need training?""
me -"oh yeah dude, definitely...get lessons..."
"so,..... $1000 for lessons?"
"Na maybe like, $3-400 in total, depending on your skill"
"yeah mate where do they do it?"
me-(moving back to brizzy in a few months..maybe earlier....want to keep my home spot safe)" yeah mate, BROADWATER is the go!!" also, they do them at PALM BEACH!!! (both on the gold coast...keep them down there....)
"alright...keen... i'll be out there"
yeah dude.... maybe we will see you there? meanwhile, I'll send it hard at my local spot YEWWWW. IF I SEE YOU THERE, THEN YOU ARE WORTHY OF THE CREW. OTHERWISE.... NO HOPE MY FRIEND, NO HOPE.
sorry guys, dont want to name my secret spot.... :)
brizzy wind is WAY better than gold coast....sure, get a 6ft swell and 25kt SE its OKAY,,,, i'd rather send it in flat water and ride for 2+hrs because you dont get anywhere near as fatigued!!! COMIN' BACK HOME!!!!

Get a tinny though and putt over to some sand spits near straddle / peel etc and it's probably twice as windy, and azure blue Tahiti style waters
