ikitesurf makes it look like the whole east coast has 10+knots 50% of the year.

Can this be true?

What locations would you recommend to live as a kiter - I'm looking for something with 10+ knots 4 days a week. Does this paradise exist between Bateman's Bay and Port Macquarie?

Yes it is...
All depends on what kind of work you do as to where you might live.

Port Macq is an awesome area, great kiting, but honestly there is so many spots up and down the coast. Again depending on your work.

IMO Jervis Bay is one of the windier spots since it sticks out from the coast. You can go out in any wind direction and also have access to surf / waves to the north and south - and you'll likely have a massive beach pretty much all to yourself.

The further down the coast you go the stronger the summer seabreeze gets. The NE wind is much stronger on the south coast of NSW than we get way up here in Brissy.
Almost any beach is good during summer. But, to kite all year round you need to pick a spot that handles the winter westerlies, and they are much harder to find, especially for kiting.

As offshore wind is a no no, unless you're planning to visit New Zealand, you need somewhere that the westerly is blowing onshore. It also can't be near hills so the wind is clean enough.

We have westerly locations in Brissy, but maybe some southerners can chime in with suitable westerly locations.

I've lived up and down the east coast of NSW from Sydney to Qld and the spot I enjoyed the most for kiting was the Central Coast area which has a spot for all directions. If you only need 10 knots you will be kiting alot. Have a look on google maps at the area and you will see. Also short distance to sydney for work or whatever other reasons you need to go to a big city. I used to live in Terrigal which was an awesome spot, great time of my life spent there.
Have a look at the coastline on google maps. I think you could happily live anywhere along the coast depending on what your work is. Only place I would avoid is Sydney because you will be spending alot of time in traffic. If you have to live there, I'd recommend south of the CBD. Northern beaches doesnt get great wind, kiting is banned in the eastern suburbs and most kiting is around botany bay or beaches of cronulla.

If you want endless wind, you're looking at the wrong side.

Keen to know where the great kiting is at Port Mac aside from Middle Rock? Sadly lots and lots of windless days on the mid north coast

Completely agree with CJ2478 that the Central Coast seems to have the most wind and the most options from north of Syd to the QLD border.

Anywhere on the east coast will be fire this summer if the el nino kicks back in... Crescent Head (just north of port macquarie) is also a winner for waves and wind.

Anyone have any experience kiting around the Dalmeney area? Are there many kiters around and are the beach angles suited to the wind?
