Ok, now fire away.

He could do that, but everything you can do windsurfing you can do kiting and all the gear fits in the boot of your car.
I can think of only a few things you can only do windsurfing:
- launch where there's no beach or the beach is crowded.
- bob around on a floaty boaty board in ultra-light winds.
- ride in mega storm conditions where launching a kite would be potentially suicidal (sort of on this one)
- errrm????
Feel free to do other stuff but you need to go to the other stuff forum to ask about that.
As well as kiting I paraglide, cycle (road and mountain), surf (badly), play music (piano and guitar), hang out with the missus.
Paragliding is awesome but you have to be very committed to do it, especially if you don't live near a decent mountain or tow strip.
Cycling is pleasant but not exactly fun (compared to kiting etc)
Stuff like motocross can be fun but you've got to go somewhere to do and deal with motors and fuel and ****.
In terms of bang for buck kiteboarding wins hands down. I can do it almost every night of the week through spring, summer, autumn and every weekend in winter. I don't have to travel more than 10 minutes from my home.
