my missus only used to ride flat water. now she rides on the flat bit inside of waves, and inches further into the waves each run. i dont expect her to ride right through to the outside big ones, im just super stoked she is hitting the secondary inside break. while she understands the stated known rules, occasionally she gets a bit in the way, so i spend a few minutes on the beach after the session telling her the finer details of rights of way and the lines to expect a wave rider to be taking so that she gets better at anticipating their turns and keeping out of the way.

she rocks.

and she is keener each time to go to where the waves are.

Agree the rules apply to surf and flat water ,if your in the waves learn the rules and show respect , on the flat don't shirt tack if other crap were the boys are trying to do tree stuff
Plenty of waves to be had and plenty of flat water to do another run ,first matter what board your on , chill out and gave fun

Agreed. Have fun. Must admit having got into the sport when most hadn't even heard of it, I have had to really adjust over the past 5 years and accept more numbers in the water. I used to get so irritated, and the only one suffering was me. Just lately I've really just chilled and funny enough have actually enjoyed watching other crew (including good windsurfers) do their thing. The angst lied totally within me not what others were doing. And funny enough now I'm much more chill less issue seem to arise, funny that....

Except one time out at graveyards (exmouth) this year when a bunch of riders (on rally's but that's neither here nor there) just blatantly ignored all the rules that keep us safe so far off shore. Blatant disrespect for all those on the water. Did I Chuck a hissy fit when I came in hey juice rider. I'm not a that fussed as long as their is no danger for those in the water, and in this case there behaviour was downright dangerous. Several others experienced this to...that's not on and won't be tolerated. Be warned.
