Stuff kiting live in the hills and go snowboarding, a powder day is better than kiting

You will stay much warmer snowboarding than kiting!

But a sunny day with fresh snow and a good day of kiting do the same thing for me.

Vancouver is the best place to be. Squamish has great kiting and even have someone with a seadoo that will come and get you if you break something out in the water or the wind dies (for a small fee). Also as the others say great mountain biking an snowboarding and just a beautiful place. Lots and lots of rain however.

The east coast has kiting, do not know much about it but saw some on a roadtrip.

I think the east coast water may warm up a bit in summer, but the winter is way colder there and no snowboarding, that said you can do the obvious and go to Mexico for kiting.

As far as snowboarding goes blue skies and fresh snow is like cross on wind and waves, not everyday but worth every second if it. Days with nothing but ice, cloud fog and wind are more like mowing the lawn in 14 knots on a kite that really needs 16 knots. Yeah you are out on your board but you would trade ten days of that for one good day!

But it's better than nothing.

If you want to shovel snow and scrape windshields (windscreens) every morning for winter. Plug your block heaater in so the engine will start in the morning then go for the east coast. Vancouver will mostly be rain which as we like to say at least you don't have to shovel it!

much colder on the east coast.. Vancouver is the warmest of all the cities - hence the large number of homeless in Van

Lived in Van for a couple of years - good memories, great place to be into the outdoor lifestyle. People are really cool, might just be cos they're all stoned half the time on bc buds

hey bro i lived in canada for 3 years, going back in 5 weeks! i lived in bc for 8 months then moved to regina, saskatchewan. its the 3rd windiest spot in canada, i snowkited from novemeber- april. ****ing epic! and on the lakes the rest of the time. kiting is pretty big in alberta and sask, alberta also is really windy and has heaps of lakes think there is a kite camp mite be called keho kite ranch alberta. i hear winds in british columbia arnt as consistant from the prarie provences, alberta, sask , manitoba. also as the other lads said ive heard of a huge kiting scene down east. dunno what ur line of work is but alberta and saskatchewan are 2 booming provinces!!

Lived on Vancouver Island for a number of years prior to moving to Perth and in most parts of Canada (in another life). You can get the best of outdoor living/kiting/skiing etc aroung the Comox Valley area which includes Courtney and Campbell River on the North East side of Vancouver Island. www.google.com.au:443/maps?hl=en&tab=wl You will definitely need a drysuit and you should check the Ocean Rodeo site for the best ones available. Wherever you kite on Vancouver Island (except lakes) you will get an introduction to tidal currents, rugged beaches and seriously large logs floating around.
I would highly recommend living in. BC with sidetrip out to Calgary for the stampede (July). If you can afford it, fly out to Montreal and check out french canadian culture....they really know how to party.
