Can anybody recommend a spot to kite in Asia during March? Work is sending me to Indonesia via Singapore and I'm thinking of taking a kitesurfing holiday off the back.

As usual it seems notoriously hard to pin down the seasons for areas so I'm left guessing or asking the local hospitality (some of whom I don't entirely trust given interests are slightly misaligned). If someone has general resources for this I'd love to hear about them.

Bintang looked like a candidate as from I gathered the NE season runs from JAN-MAR. However When I look at windguru stats it seems quite mediocore, with 5% of March days at beaufort 5. No idea if I'm reading that right though.

Sri Lanka might be on that time of the year.

Bintan is sketchy at the best of times but is the closest option to Singapore, it's so close to the equator that you're probably going to be skunked most of the time.

a mate of mine just got back from kingfisher resort in the Phillipines, it seemed to have a bit of wind for this time of year.

personally i'd take the Singapore-Perth flight and go local...

Singapore is almost hopeless. Indonesia ... you might get lucky but even when there is wind, it is usually not that good.

When I lived in SE Asia, I went to Philippines in Boracai. Great place even if there is no wind. Season is from Nov to March I believe and it usually delivers. I know a few people living there. PM me if interested.

Thanks for input guys

Will chase up Sri Lanka.

Good to confirm my suspicions about Bintan.

Boracay looks promising! For some reason I thought the season was a lot worse than that but this seems bang in the middle of their dry season! lynxmo0 if you have any recommendations for resorts please do DM me!

The other option was Hua Hin but this might take a second to Boracay now.

You'll catch the end of Seabreeze season in WA - but ts too early for the tropical trades in and around South East Asia.(SE'ly) which kick off end May.......not sure what to advise - scuba diving?

Yeah unfortunately I've already booked my flights direct BNE-SIN so a detour via WA is not happening :(

A lot of Boracay sites seem to suggest things will be swinging in March-April. Is this just marketing shlick?
