And people were wondering if it would ever happen. Yay for kites.

Not since last Summer, which is probably a shame considering the strength of some of the Winter winds. I just haven't been motivated enough to track down a good flatwater spot in a Westerly. The inside of Hilary's boat harbour could be good, but I daresay I'd get moved on pretty quick. Not to mention wiping out at speed with all those pylons, masts and boat hulls around.

What about that guy in the hurricane last week?

Also: for a speed sailing site it's DAMN SLOW.

Edit:
0.06 seconds off 50 knots. About 40cm.
Bugger!
(I could be wrong *hick)

40 knots average, gotta love the right wind on the right day for comps. Speed Week in Namibia in 06 barely got over 20, but the weekend before we were kiting the same strip in a 35 knot average.

Here's the video of the World Record run. Insane!

Any Aussies still aiming for 50 knots? David (vide)? It'd be great to see 50 knots taken by a kiter at Luderitz. Looking forward to the next 2 weeks.....

my vote for balls of steel would be crossing the line at 49 knots, raising the right arm in victory and yanking on the left one for a hooked, nicely laid out 49 knot back kiteloop (maybee throw in a lazy grab). now THAT would have been ballsy.
len10 would ave done it
