Has anyone broken their foot from kiting and if so, how long did you wait before hitting the water again? I've broken my foot - 2/3 metatarsal but non lis franc (thank god) from a jump that went a we bit wrong... I'm currently walking around without too much pain but am not quite running yet. Its been about 2.5 months since the injury...

Frothing to get back on the water.

Did my right foot, ended up in a moon boot which fast tracked things.
Can be 6 months or more depending but strapless surfboard and you are back quicker - absolutely no straps.
Now starting to foil kite so front strap and getting some pain around the old break. This is only due to water starting on a very floaty board so need to pull board into position with foot in strap. Now got smaller volume board so hoping less issue.

Did my Cuneiform last May. I was misdiagnosed, so my rehab was pretty much nothing for the first 5 weeks until I had a CT scan. So I was out for 6 months.
A little bit tender when I started back and felt sore after a session. Now it feels good and no pain on hard landings. Pulls up bit better now but will never be the same of course.

Don't go back too early. Let the injury heal properly. My advice to you which helped me a lot is to get a compression type bandage to wear on your foot and all day, this will help with blood flow and get some good gel inserts to put in your shoes for support......no bare feet! This helped a lot with my injury as it was a type of lis franc fracture.
Ligaments are taking a while of course, as bending your foot towards your shin is not a good idea.
Just take your time, you will be better off in the long run.
Good luck

1st 2nd 3rd and 5th metatarsals, lisfranc, cuboid - pretty much most of the mid section smashed.
Was a year before I could walk properly again (in hard soled walking boots)
Do a few days of barefoot walking now and I feel it, nearly 7 years after I did it.

Didn't kite for a year. :(
Still hurts after a session :(

I fractured my third metetarsal about 6 weeks ago. I just got the boot off but it's not quite right, still aches, especially after walking barefoot. I reckon I could kite with a surfboard if wearing some sort of shoe, like wake skate guys wear, but foot straps seem like a bad idea at the moment

That's the real deal there. Terrible injury RB. Couldn't even comprehend how much pain and frustration that injury would be......Nasty!

Weird thing was it didn't hurt much when I did it. (I knew I'd broken it but not how badly)
Didn't help that the Dr I was assigned was a butcher - also ended up with a DVT.
Getting the heparin shots everyday for 2 weeks hurt waay more than the foot did.

ay Im new to this sport, whats with all the broken feet?

Is this a result of landing jumps or what is the general cause?
