Firstly a big thank you to all those who contributed to KBV’s Season Opener - the winds could have been kinder but at least it was warm [for Melbourne].

I have just been trying to piece the bits together which made up the day.
Industry Participants set their gear up early including tents and board displays - so despite low winds Brighton Kite Beach looked awesome.
The winds were not kind with Northerlies of 18 knots at 2.pm dropping off to 4 knots before a 10 knot South South Easterly. Well done the juniors who completed the downwinder from StKilda to Brighton at 2.00pm and Chris from Kite Republic supporting them with his Zodiac.
And thank you all for supporting the Brighton Life Saving Club with your donations – over $150 was contributed in “gold coins”. BLSC do a great job in assisting all beachgoers and kiters have a safe and enjoyable time at Brighton. Thanks are also due to Kite Beach as the local team who watch over those at Brighton.
Highlights of the day were the 30metre, yes that was 30metre, kite from Flexifoil Matt that a number of keen kiters tried. I understand the Zodiac was kept busy on all occasions as many of the adventures “disappeared” [lost ground] around the point out of sight of the keen gallery on the hill. And was that a KBV Committee Member flying a kite without a safety…..surely not……..

Many new Members were signed up along with many expressing a keen interest. The allocation of Tags Numbers was well supported but why were 69, 696 and 6969 so keenly sought after?? As an aside there appears to be some confusion regarding KBV and AKSA Memberships. Any member of KBV is automatically a member of AKSA and vice versa. Your address determines which State Association you are a member of even if you sign up through AKSA and if your residential address is Victoria then you become a Member of KBV.
Once again thank

you for your participation and KBV look forward to seeing you at the Victorian Titles to be held on Friday 21 November to Sunday 23 November 2008. Check the KBV Website for details.
