Subversive (including buzz) marketing is rife! If you buy a kite because a random recommends it on a kite forum you're a turkey, no question.

The real big industry players do it better. The pharmaceutical industry do it with your local GP. So, don't be naive and think it doesn't happen on this site. Just recognize that the internet is not a critically reviewed, objective source. That's reality.

Even then with the deal I got, I felt like a cheap whore by getting a Best kite. The Waroo is about the most milk-toast, boring, stripped-down kite money can buy.

If you really think this, why did you buy the kite? You could have bought a supposedly better brand, near new, second hand kite for the same money, or are you just slagging off Best because someone there has pi**ed you off for some reason?

Blimey this one has travelled around a bit, and looks almost nothing like the original email that i wrote for Frazer to send to UK retailers.

The original email was only sent to UK retailers for sending out to their shop riders, it was sent to no one else by Best.

Obviously one of those retailers forwarded it out to another of their brands, who then made up an identity and posted it on kiteforum. There is no fat barmaid, end of story. ( not that we dislike curvacious ladies).

The original email stated that Frazer was checking posts from all shop riders and the poster of the most relevant and informative posts would win a trip to the Tarfia dealer meeting. Simple as that, offering shop riders something back for their forum efforts and keeping an eye on the posting situation as well.

I think Frazer had the balance between stimulating shop riders to respond to questions and ensuring no spam just right.

It does however highlight the fact that the staff at some brands will go to any length to try and dirty another brand. After all haven't 'they' just created a new identity to spam the forums with bull****.

I guess the irony is lost on them.
