I have actually almost never kited in finland and pretty sure would not be brave enough to go in in those conditions... so all my respect to those sisters (and brothers) back home.

not sure about the board shorts. it seems very popular back there. I asked one guy about it and he couldn't really explain why, its just done because everybody else does it. after our enlightening discussion he said that next summer he would try to start a new trend and be the cool dude around the beaches without boardies... who knows

Probably the only time they get to wear boardies in finland.

There must be some wicked places to kite in Finland, maybe out on that Flakstadoya peninsula, beautiful countryside too
