LOL

Don't most newer cars have the holes in the roof ready for a roof rack to be put in? Mine doesent i had a look and there is nothing to suggest a roof rack can be added.

how hard would it be to put on on in this situation?

I used to have a Mitsi Express 4WD LPG. Decked it out as a camper in the back by removing the interior masonite panels and using then as templates for thick plywood pannels to structurally support the camper compartments. Was fantastic, with alloy bar, rear tyre holders, stereo, and colored lights! Then came the hail storm big time :( Ended up a write off!!!

Was great for the sand, but not a real serious 4WD, very bumpy as you are sitting on top of the wheel and suspension. Still sad to see it go. If you really want a van the 4WD Mitsi Tarago/Challenger ones are not bad. Otherwise go for 2WD. I reckon a 2WD Express SWB with dual side sliding doors would be good, ideally in diesel. Otherwise a Troopy with a slide on van set up would be sweet!

Auction can be a good source. Manheim Fowles or Pickles. These vans come up now and again as ex-fleet.
