Hi all,

I love kiteboarding, the ocean and tshirts, so for Christmas I designed a kiteboarding tshirt for myself.

After showing the design to a number of my kiteboarding friends they want the tshirt as well.

Being a one man band and new to tshirt printing, I want to make sure I only print enough tshirts as the demand.

So your help would be invaluable to whether people would want this shirt and if they do then what size would they want. I don't want to get all medium and people want large or vice-versa. Also your opinion of a fair price for this custom designed shirt, I am thinking around the $45.

There also a girl kiteboarder version as well.

The pictures below are photoshopped on tshirts for now, I plan to have them printed pretty close to this tshirt colour. If anyone knows of a really good tshirt printers that doesn't charge an arm and a leg, that are in Melbourne, that would be great as well. My current quote is $600 setup costs for the tshirts.

This version is just before the final version, we are tweaking the kite to a little bit closer to a "C" shape.

If you like it, and want one, post your response or pm me. If you want one - can you say your size, price you think is reasonable and your state you live in.

If you don't like it, that's cool as well, art is always up to the individual. My close friends, love the shirt design, but then again they could just be making me feel good :)

cheers,
andrew

PS If you hate, can you be a little nice - for some I know this is hard ;)

PSS BTW there is no copyright issues on using tidal wave, it was on wood in the 1700s before copyright. (one can check this on wikipedia)

PSSS if any shops want this shirt let me know.

Do some google'ing. I have seen sites where you can email them your design and they will print it for you. Could be an option?

Hi there,

I like your t-shirt, looks good!

I made a series of t-shirts with ETIKO (really happy with what I got!), a great little Aussie based company that produce fair-trade & organic cotton t-shirts, and prints with non-toxic inks, all of this for a reasonable price. Check them out at: www.etikomerch.com.au/

At the price you're asking, you will still make a fair benefit even with a great quality product like Etiko, instead of cheap Chinese t-shirts made by kids, made from uncontrolled cotton field, washed with super toxic products by poor people, and printed with heavy metal inks...

There's another Australian company called Certton, that makes organic t-shirts, see www.certton.com.au/
but I remember them being more expensive, and they could not assure me of non-toxic inks printing...however, you should still give it shot for price negotiations with them as well ;0)

All the best and let us know when you're t-shirts are out!

eneour thanks for the tip for Etikomerch for tshirt printing, the site looks great. I really like fair trade and for it to be Australian made. It is based on the Japan tidal wave - I want it to show the Zen in kitesurfing.

Thx Surfboy - strapless, I like your thinking.

GFresh - appreciate comment, thanks.

I have had a few PMs, a number say there really aren't many kiteboarding shirts that they would actually wear. I feel ya pain on that one.

asian kids gotta eat too. if you want to give back print the logo on some cheap asian t shirts and donate the profits to some high yield charity.

The organic shirt company will just go to some yuppy in melbourne who will spend it on coffee or amyl nitrate

agreed ... gotta get the kitesurfer & his kite into 'shape' more ... copy all the angles from any kite-mag shot of a guy on a surfboard on a wave doing a huge slash cut-back unhooked & strapless ... make it look sick

Hi ohyeah. I'm a kiteboarder and also a screenprinter. I print for kiteboarding shops. I will pm you as I can set this job up for a quarter of what you've been quoted so far. I also use Oz made shirts. I'm based in QLD but ship anywhere in Aus and NZ. Steve.

Good effort.

For me love is less about sharp angles.....and strapless is more about making love than ramming it home....as on the tee shirt. Soften it up IMO.

Blueboy the price is around $45, just talking to a number of tshirt printers and seeing what price point works.
