I seem to have a problem of late, whenever i jump, my board seems to swing up in front of me as i maintain my balance in the air...
the only thing i can imagine is that i'm sending the kite too far back... ? Would this be it?
i really want to try and get a tail grab going, but as soon as i'm airborne, i find my legs are to the front of me, not behind me, and by the time i swing them back, it's time for landing..
any ideas?
Hi odetojak,
It sounds like you are leaning back too much as you take off, sort of trying to "huck" the jump with the board. You don't need to try and jump with the board, all you need to do is maintain your edge in a comfortable manner.
Good jumping is all about control, if you don't have it, it aint gonna be pretty.
A nice controlled speed, not too fast.
Start with kite at 10.30 or 11 if jumping on port tack.
When ready, sheet in, turn the kite hard and keep bar in for full power
As kite gets to 12, turn the board upwind to initiate a take off and to load the lines.
As you rise, hold the kite into the wind and keep bar sheeted in
As you descend, redirect your kite forward and bend knees, align board and land.
Cheers,
KH
