Geez your photographer has no sense of timing, I can only just see his sail through the spray from some ****en kiter!

highlighting the kite in kitesurfing. what is meant to be so good about this shot? shoulda done an air or something vaguely amusing, especially to warrant a whole thread dedicated to it. sorry but i just cant see anything great here.

yes he is totally fearless in the huge 3 foot wave isn't he...nice snap but what's its called when it gets 6 foot - a tsunami ridden by all fearless thrillseeker evil kenevil

Actually we just liked the shot and thought a few of you on the forum would appreciate it as well
No attempted sales pitch, no alignment of equipment or manufacturers... simply a shot of a rider giving it a red hot go.

Sorry to disappoint but our involvement with both the sport of kitesurfing and the rider spans a good number of years

A wave doesnt need to be big to be "cool". Nice shot windwarrior. We (kitesurfers) sound like a bunch of chicks with all this whinning and nagging.

Can any1 that has bitched about this photo please now reply with a photo you have taken that is better then this one??? OR Can any of the critics now respond with a photo of them snapping more spray off the lip? What a bunch of arrogant assholes... man.

Wearing straps in huge waves/tow ins etc makes sense, but in the little stuff? Each to their own.

I prefer the freedom of shifting my feet from the middle of the board to the rail of the board and backwards and forwards. the straps severly limit that feeling of freedom.

no one said that wearing straps means your a nOOb

just think that most of the average joe around who rides with or with out straps could do much the same

i dont have anyone to take photos of all my stylish **** so sorry i cant provide a shot

You can ollie over waves or hit them at an angle, doesn't work when the wave is just breaking though and some of the pros go pretty big without straps. Definitely need to give that a go, jst hope i don't break to many boards.

Top picture, nice work.

Thats the problem, your average joe (vert, or insert other spankers) think you look that good on the waves ,the reality, well, thats why most surfers write us off. Bunch of Unco's that run around, creating the "scene", acting like they rip it.

Thats why they ride with straps, because it allows them to ride powered like that. Save the underpowered strappless riding for the glassy offshore days.

From a kiters perspective its like - wow that’s really gnarly to ride strapless and pull those moves off and from a surfer’s perspective its like wow that looks really gay.

I like the picture that’s posted nothing wrong with it at all from a photographer point of view.

The rider is out their doing what he’s doing with the gear he is using in the conditions that are available on the day. Don’t knock it unless you can post something better - of yourself.

IMHO Riding without straps offers far more limitations then freedom... but like i said, each to there own.

Simon, you dont see the guy in that vid boosting BIG. Although incredibly technical, and yes he is a good rider, he just looks like a tool. Save the strapless for the glassy barrels, otherwise use the tools that technology provides us.

Vert dont bag this photo because he "isnt doing it without straps". Its comments like this that make me glad I live in the Sunshine Coast where we are free of this wannabe, "in crew" attitude. Guys ride with and without straps for there enjoyment not because its "cool"

It's funny you know,
When you look at the above pic,
you see a rider, a surfboard firmly planted under his feet, and lots of railspray,
as he rips the top off the curl.
If you didn't know any better, you could be forgiven for thinking it was a photo of surfing.
But it's wavekiting....not surfing.

You see, there's no kite in the shot (there mostly never is).
So the uninformed may be excused for any misunderstanding.....
Although the stick in the riders hands and the faint outline of strings are dead-giveaways to the trained-eye.

When surfers look at wavekiters in action from a sheltered spot on the beach,
they mainly see the kite, the fag-lines and wind-blown wavefaces.
Some surfers just don't get it....and that's good.
Thank goodness most just don't get it.
