you have not missed a thing, just come off the water after a really bad sail. Its not a seabreeze but a warm gradient wind that is full of big holes.

In VIC the forecast was great for this week, but it's been cr@p so far.
With the strong la nina this year, could we expect one of the worst summers ever?

Crapola here in Lancelin too, started on the 9m, then up to the 12m, would have gone back to the 9 but had to head off to work.

But I did properly stick my first backrolls on the twip tip and later crossed to the dark side and tried a strapless surfboard for the first time, and was up and going no worries.

So I guess it was a good day for me regardless what the wind was doing!

Yep, every dog has his day! You know history is on your side, its only a matter of time and your back in the green, and we'll be back in the red!!!

Warm gradient is not a term I've heard before..i likey!!!

It did occur to me as I watched the clouds roll through with the holey wind that some of the clouds looked a little fierce. I wondered if there was potential for a localized event like micro burst or just a big frigging gust as it rolled through.
The synoptic chart shows the "warm gradient" and a small low with front attached moving in with the trough. Plus the cyclone to complicate things.
The graphs show consistency in gust readings so all good in those spots.

Just wondering about the potential for a loft etc

It was bloody hard work, i was on 11

Fkn full on!!

Like a winter sesh but I had a blast (literally and figurat.. fig.. er.. I had fun).

Angry wind, angry swell..[}:)] on ya toes - carnage everywhere..

After missing out pretty much all last winter ( I blinked and missed the two fronts that came thru) I had almost forgotten how much stoke a 'challenging' sesh can be.

Can't wait for Sat - Yeeoooww!! Drag out the forgotten 7m!

EDIT:

Lofts were on the cards and def glad I detoured to swap my 12m for my 9m. Got several '2nd wind kickers' half way thru a boost (love em but can leave stubborn understains sometimes.)

Pays to take notice of the conditions every sesh but speshly when non-typical weather is happening like yesterdee.

Was very southerly and 'frontal' in nature.

Word of warning regarding the South groin at City Beach. Despite leaving 300-400m or so between me and the groin, on take off from the beach, I mistimed the angry dumper, had to blast downwind to give some swimmers a miss, and then had fek all room to get out before the chunky groin loomed much closer than comfort.

Next time there is a straight southerly and chunky swell I'll make it at least 500m upwind of the groin.

...am I living in the same Perth as you guys?....or some of us became too fussy...
I had an epic session at my local 3.30pm-6pm yesterday. Yes, a bit onshore and stirred up with the clouds, but the swells were up, and I was lit on my 9m all time. After days of sitting at home with the easterlies, I just loved it.
Cheers

I have to disagree, I thought the wind was blessed more than Holy :-) Maybe we are a little bit more fortunate up here.

Found it to be more Westerly than Southerly i.e. more on shore than usual, and I used the conditions to go "upwind". (go parallel to beach in a direction normal considered upwind)

The big swell and direct onshore did leave very little margin for error. Misstime a return and find yourself beached.

good session - although I still feel that a session with mediocre wind is better than no session at all.

I didn't mind the more westerly / onshore wind. It gave longer stretches to play with the shore break.

Not all of us are complaining that the colour of wind didn't match our handbags.

Was ruff as guts around CB-Scarbs but as I said a tops time! Lack of wind lately? Myeh.. maybe, but it was ruff enough to go past inconveniant 'holes' and into white-knuckle fangin along FUN!

EDIT: Er.. hope not too many noobs got smeshed yesterdee tho.

I've noticed the wind around Floreat is bizarre this season tho. Honestly it is just plain weird in/around Floreat for some reason. 1km either side it's game on. At Flozzer it's sh!t on a stick every time I go through on a DW. Weird. Anybody else concur?

I also had a good time on the 8m. A bit gusty is all.

The onshore made for good right handers at scabs.

I was on a 7m and Hammer... noticed I did a bit of tea bagging abit south of the poo pipes. Was just a little harder to get going.

Got cleaned up a few times by the shorebreak in a few spots between swannie and cb.
