Ok seriously guys this is got to be a Australian ya? I mean I know South Africans are crazy but I cannot see this. What you think? I would put in shark thread but the shark thread is locked.

Those chompers at that size are just ready to go

The pic looks cosy enough but Ive actually seen one of these monsters (about that healey size) come right up to the surface beside an 18' abalone boat off Julia Percy Is. in Vic.
Made me rethink my previously care less attitude to surfing, diving etc ever since.
Body language or otherwise they are seriously scary mofu's in the flesh.
I wouldnt pull that stunt in a fit.
Not cool - just crazy.

actually i wouldnt be surprised if this was south african.. my old man used to do it all the time as a kid, not specifically GW's but a fair few breeds he's caught like that. Sharks apart from 1 breed I think, can not bite their own tails so the trick is to walk up behind them grab them by the tail pinch it between your knees so it cant roll out or thrash out then waddle backwards to dry land.

anyone ever see that other free diver that was playing with the two 4 - 5 m whites like 2 years ago?

Apparently the wobbegong is the only shark that can bite its own tail

Had a beauty 20 m off the beach at Wedge yesterday. 5 metres of submarine with teeth shadowing a whale that had just been disentangled from cray pots.
Gotta love nature......

The whale did a u turn and is now 500m out from HITW. Poor little bugger is fairly stuffed and still being shadowed by a @#$ken big whitey.
Hope the little fella makes it........

You're still not helping Lurch, I was considering kayaking out and around the back of both islands tomorrow morning.

Anyone got a Gopro I can mount under the kayak...?

Chuck was wearing a camouflage wetsuit so the shark couldn't see him.

Hey Nick,

I have a video I shot "up North" a while ago which probably shows what happened to the whale you photographed.

Enjoy!
