... true story now! There wasn't enough wind for me to go kiting so I decided to give up a sh!t session and give my son a lesson and video him. While he was out all of a sudden he actually got going and drove the board right up the beach and let the kite crash on the beach.
I ran up to him to yell at him for treating the kite so rough.
He proceeded to tell me that he brushed up against a shark. Now being the good Dad I am, I told him to stop being a sook and get back out there.
"There's no shark there dude, com'on mate"
He wouldn't go back out.
While standing there saying there is no sharks, he pointed out to sea and said' "see, there it is"!!
"Nah, your seeing things dude"
As I look out to sea with my video camera, 3 fins pop up on the viewfinder

.
"umm, thats not 3 little sharks dude, thats one big one", I say.
"I told you", he says!
It was a big shovel nose shark swimming up and down in the shallows chasing food.
So, he really did brush up against a shark. Maybe next time I'll listen to him.
"don't worry mate its harmless enough, winds dropped anyway, might as well pack up"!
Its like another time, while waiting for wind, a couple kites rigged on the beach, the son comes up while the adult were enjoying a beer or 3. "a plane landed on the beach", while he pointed downwind. Thinking him and his mate were taking the piss we fobbed them off, yeah yeah, a plane really landed on the beach!!!!. You know what, a cesna really did land (crash landed) on the beach just around the corner from us. It had engine trouble and had to ditch.
Hmmmm, the moral is, if the son comes up with a tall story, better check if its true first before I tell him to stopp making up stories!
