ZOMG I got my Tickets so I am coming!!!

Well so I am going to be in the central coast area, I am wondering where I can kite besides Toowoon Bay and Tuggerah, Can please advise any rules/regulations etc etc.

I will be there Jan 26th..

Can you plz advise kites and what not as well? Currently I only have a 9 meter Crossbow its been enough for me to ride almost anytime I want (Maui). I ride a Cabrinha 133 Caliber, and a rocket ship of a Angulo Board

imgur.com/a/ByWxw (Big Images)

The Angulo Board has Speedwing's right now with a Future FEA center fin, I ran the FSG for center but it seems too soft for what I want right now. I also am getting some Elevon's they should have been here today but alas this is maui brah. I will be bringing all my fins due to the fact its possible to break fins :) 3 sets should be enough.

Any advice will be helpful for me thanks again.

The 9 should be ok with a surfboard but a 12 might be handy too.

As far as your board goes, you might want to get the Mole that is growing from the fin removed as it is ugly and may get laughed at.

Also 3 fins should be fine, as if you break them we've actually got shops now in Australia.
It's an exciting future now. We call this shop - Surf Shop. Pretty cool huh?

Kite locations:

http://www.nswkba.com.au/locations
(zoom in to see details)

NOTE: Heed the cautions, warnings and NO KITING zones. Lifeguards are not known to be friendly to kiters ignoring the local regs. Also, be aware of waterways regulations and code of conduct:

www.nswkba.com.au/coc

www.maritime.nsw.gov.au/sbh/safety_water.html

Windsurfing/Kitesurfing
Both a windsurfer and a surf kite are classified as vessels and therefore come under NSW marine legislation.

Requirements:
Distance off when travelling at 10 knots or more
Windsurfers/Kitesurfers and their equipment, including kite and lines, must maintain a minimum distance of 60m from any persons or non-powered vessels or 30m from powered vessels and any objects in the water or if that is not possible a safe distance.
Stay out of a designated surf zone. A designated surf zone is defined as the area extending 500 metres out from shore between surf patrol flags or signs.
Stay out of a swimming area, which is defined as the area extending 60 metres out from shore between signs for swimmers.
Lifejacket
An appropriate lifejacket must be worn when windsurfing/kitesurfing more than 400m from the nearest shore.

No-go/Caution areas
Sydney Harbour is a no-go zone for kitesurfing. The no-go zone is an area between North and South Head and the head of navigation on the Parramatta River and includes Middle Harbour and the Lane Cove River. At Pittwater off Station Beach - caution is required as this is a seaplane landing and take-off area. Appropriate warning signs have been established north and south of the seaplane wharf.

Safety tips
Take extreme care when launching.
Keep a proper lookout at all times.
Maintain proper distances off when operating in the vicinity of surfers outside the designated surf zone.
Keep a proper lookout at all times for obstructions, other craft or swimmers.
Look all around - even behind you.
Give way
Power driven craft must give way to sailcraft such as windsurfers/kitesurfers unless the windsurfer/kitesurfer is in the process of overtaking. A windsurfer/kitesurfer overtaking any other craft (power or sail) must keep well clear of the vessel being overtaken.

Also seat harnesses are compulsory in Australia now.

It's not a safety thing but a fashion thing.

Our top Politicians are mostly women now, so fashion has a higher priority.

The lifejacket thing was a negotiated compromise that NSWKBA was able to reach with the NSW Waterways folks who had originally proposed that kitesurfers should wear lifejackets at all times in all ocean waters. After we made the case to them why this was unnecessary they agreed to a compromise, which is what we ended up with: "while kiting alone and more than 400m from shore".

"Seppo" is slang for septic tank, which rhymes with Yank, if you hadn't realized....and yes

But your not all bad, I even married one.

And if your thinking you might need a 12m kite get one over there and bring it over. You will save a lot of coin.

Dude take no notice, there is no wind in Perth this time of year you will be better off to stay in the East.
We did have a US tourist here once, but he was eaten by a shark.

No wind here in WA but you are still welcome to come over. A bunch of us get together at the Cott groin and we feed the white pointers.

So I have no wind here right now but I decided to take my fins and put them in the water (tub) and start moving them about to feel how they behave. Its quite amazing how much uplift they have and lack of cavitation. The actual distortion of the water caused it minimal.

I think they might be onto something at futures. Will give more feedback once I ride them in the reviews.
