Definitely hydrogen peroxide, apply a couple of times a day and continue until it stops fizzing when you put it on.

This is particularly effective on reef cuts

any medical professional wud tell u to keep it clean n dry n if the wound was big enough to hav it stiched or glued... keepin the moisture out will certainly help prevent infection n get u back out there alot faster
happy kiting

You really need to put something on coral cuts. A couple of years back i got a good slice at Green island. Left it overnight thinking "she'll be right". MAssively red the next day... Tons of bacteria on coral

Davo's right Bactraban is the best, it will work even if you keep going out in the water as long as you keep it on when your dry.

You actually get a spray on plaster which is like superglue. Stings like a mother****er but works brilliantly.

I have a dark sense of humour so I used to happily volunteer my stock to people when they cut themselves badly and then laugh when the you see them start swearing when the pain sets in about 3 seconds after you have sprayed it on.

The pain only happens for about 10 seconds. After that, all the cuts are sealed and no bleeding. The pain is worth it for what it does.

Desinfect it, put neosporin on it and make shure it stays dry...if you dont pay attention to it, you get a nasty infection or just a deep hole which almost never heals. best thing is, to ducktape it really tight when you go out and take it off when u come back to the beach...dont forget to put a littler bandage under it so u dont rip it the wound off.
as soon as you see pus go to the doctor to prevent a staph infection which are very common if you have reef and coral cuts.

i m getting phantom pain right now in my left food [}:)]

Hi Mate, go to a doctor! Sometimes those cuts often look like they are infected but its just the normal healing process which looks kind of scary when you still go into the water a lot and the saltwater opens the wound everytime. I also had a cut where a little piece of coral still was sticking in and doc needed to open it again
BUT: i have lots of friends having a staph infection back in Hawaii, even the water is so nice and clear there you can get it...you find this bacteria a lot in the water, especially on river mouths or near harbours. My friends always told me to watch my cuts and go immediatly to the doctor when i see pus. When its treated early with antibiotics its not a big deal...its just gets nasty when u dont do anything. I dont wanna say you have it, but just make shure...

Reef cuts on feet, knees, and hips are really bad, i really really take care of them as much as i can because they can mean weeks of no kiting, and noone wants that. Hope u will be good soon!!!!

i posted a pic of one of my typical reef cuts on my knee, at first it looked ok, then this hole thing started because i went on kiting, after a week i saw the pus, it got red around it, then i went to the doctor and got antibiotics. for kiting i taped it...same as my food as you can see. It doesnt look that bad but like i said, even small stuff can turn bad. Hawaii has so many corals and reefs everywhere...my legs are covered withs scars from hitting the reef in nice and shallow flatwater

Convinced me i am gone too doc mine looks hell worst then that on your knee even though it still looks like it was sore . Battle scars from reefs at hawaii small price for being there in such a great place which i will probly never get to see.. wrong job no moneys and family commetments . gold lotto maybe or be a porter too some one who is going . I am not really smart but i can lift a hell off a lot .
