I hope no one at my local beach gets a "family safe" kite and has our beach banned from kite boarding

There are enough kites sold into the wrong hands through sites like Seabreeze that do attempt to get the safety and lesson messages out there!! Sites like ebay should have standard warnings for anything to do with activities that are associated with "extreme" sports etc irrespective of the advertisers own wording and be a condition of placing the advert.

quite a safe kite by kite surfing standards due to size as well as other things probably.

But still potential to be very dangerous with out lessons about not using up wind of other etc etc. IMO.

Pornstar. Don't you think you should at least have a disclaimer about requiring lessons to safely use kitesurfing equipment. I agree with other posters so far. It seems irresponsible to suggest that the 'whole family can safely try the real thing'..

If you try to buy a child's car seat on ebay, you get flagged with the safety warnings, website etc. It can be done. Perhaps AKSA could communicate similar precautions to ebay on behalf of the kiting (and wider) community?

Your disclaimer still seems a little lacking to me. I'm guessing most kiters think those new to kiting should get lessons to learn about safety.

I would be happier if the add said lessons from a qualified instructor are strongly advised as use of this equipment can be dangerous. Or something. People could easily buy this and try it without a harness and let go of it up wind of other beach users.

Your add still reads as if the product is safe for anyone to use without lessons or even a harness IMO. This is misleading IMO.

What are others thoughts.

PS still good to have kite from an Aussie company.

PPS car comparison is mostly unhelpful and very long in my opinion.

How safe would a 5m kite be in the hands of a 30kg 10 year old in 20 knots? then add to that no knowledge/skills or instruction, right next to a flagged area with young familys present. More than one incident of this sort would = ban for that beach

ps, the capitalist parasite is a bit harsh. capitalists give some thought what they do. and if you look at it from a wider perspective, he gets some cash, and if someone gets injured, health care workers will need to be employed, rehab people if the injury is serious enough, maybe even funeral directors. flows on into journalists, commercials space during the news and Today Tonight. that is a well balanced programme, never sensationalise an accident. just focus on the facts, think of the exposure kiting will get

REMEMBER WHEN; There were no kite flying instructors , there were only a hand full of kites that were made for kitesurfing and anyone could buy a kite of any size and go fly it without any knowledge.
People still need to be responsible for their own actions .
In my opinion , NEW KITES have done nothing wrong and good luck to them if they can sell more with a little advertising!

Perhaps the word "Family" could have (should have ) been left out...but aside from that I reckon you guys are a bit harsh.......

I am usually totally against selling kites on ebay but in this case the guy is a recognised known and experienced kiter selling a brand New (no pun intended ) modern Kite from his own company .......it is not a second hand relic from 2001/2002 with no safety mechanisms...........

Perhaps the pornstar could offer a free lesson with the kite ( in Gero ) then everyone would be happy

well i am guilty, bit harsh, its a sensitive topic. i have not used your kites. it is good they are australian. maybe when you take the call/order you include info and ask probing questions to lead newbies to the promised land. i dont know. perhaps i will assume you're altruistic, rather than me being a cynic.

good luck, and i hope you push safety. but i have a 2.5m trainer (imp) and its way to strong for smaller kids, <40kg say. it would be sad to read "so n so became a quadriplegic today...in a kiting accident, it was bought on ebay"
