I've got a couple of knicks on my new second hand carbon fibre foil board. Both are on the fins / foils at the backside edges where it's thin (approx 4mm x 2mm). Apparently you just sand them out?

Anyone able to explain the procedure in a little more detail please? What grit sandpaper? Start with 120, go bigger?

By the way, one session under my belt on the board. Bloody hard to adjust to the required riding style. Once I did get going, I was most impressed with the light wind performance.

Cheers.

If it's not in an area where it's likely to affect the structural strength, clean it with acetone and fill it with JB weld epoxy putty so it's a bit oversize, then when it's cured wet send it back flush to the rest of the surface - #240, #600, #1000. Not pretty because you see the white colour, but works fine.

How deep are they? you may risk sanding some of the carbon away.

pictures?

I would build it back up with epoxy resin then sand the resin back to the original shape.

Clean it up with some sand paper to give it something to key to, put some duct tape on the back edge with a over hang on the front side ( bottom of the pick.) mix up some epoxy and dab it in . You can put some tape carefully over the top same as bottom and gently bring together. When the resin dries tidy it up with fine sandpaper , you won't need to sand much it you tape it up properly.

Main thing you want to do is seal it up so no water can get in.

If it's a bigger chuck , do the same as above only put some fibres in it , glass is harder than carbon so won't chip as easy.

Yup, that JB marine weld is the one I use. That size divot is pretty much cosmetic anyway. You could do it with resin as above as well, but much messier and harder to work with.
