Hello everyone,

Can anyone help me with the problem I have laying out my lines on my Overdrive bar/lines with my 2015 Cabrinha?

My other Cabrinha lines don't twist when I'm laying them out. These ones are stiffer and I've continued to use them (while wasting precious time) in the hope they will soften up enough to lay out - problem free - but I've recently been defaulting to my other Cabrinha lines out of sheer frustration.

I've tried everything I know to stop this from happening e.g unwinding them with the same hand I wind them them up with, winding them up in a figure 8, untwisting each line between finger and thumb (several times now).

Has anyone else had this problem with these particular lines?

Would hair conditioner help or does this damage the lines?

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I do that with my other lines without a problem but these ones catch right at the start of the layout as though they are valcroed together.

Do what exactly? Catch on each other or something else?

I wouldn't put anything like hair conditioner on them.

Funny, most people want stiff lines to avoid the tangles when setting up

Lay kite down LE into the wind as usual.
Go behind kite and connect your front lines first - yes connect the front lines first.
Walk away from your kite directly down wind undoing your lines, then put the bar down on the sand with the red or left side on the right.
Pick up your outside lines and walk back to your kite keeping the centre lines between your legs, connect outside lines.
You are ready to launch, assisted or self launch.
Any twists in your centre lines can be untwisted after you have launched.
Don't put hair conditioner on your lines that will just make a mess and cause sand to build up on them.

Twists will untwist, but knots will not.

Assuming you have below-the-bar swivel, or above-the-bar that works.

One tip that I've been doing for a couple years now, makes a big difference for me:

When you're rolling your lines up, stand with your legs between the outside lines just like when you're straightening them out to ride. It keeps them separated and the next time you lay them out it's super easy to untangle. Sometimes I can do a full run from one end of the bar to the other (tested on very windy days when I want to ride asap lol).

I recently went from an old '09 IDS bar to a '17 Overdrive 1X recoil and initially found I was getting the lines mixed up in all the above bar hardware. Ended up looking at vids like this

to see if there was a better way to wind things up to prevent tangles. Seems to work so far.

Looks like his lines are going to get worn out from just from posting too many vids. What's next, how to pump up your kite?
