Hi
Just booked a two week kitesurfing trip to the Philippines will fly in and stay on boracay. I know boracay is ment to be a pretty **** place to kite to busy no beach to land on corals etc but the plan is to go down wind to union Beach on the next island. I Just wanted to know if any one has been there latly? And if it's still a decent spot I have read lots of good stuff about union Beach but I can't seem to find much info from recent years
Or any where else around that area worth checking out
Thanks

I was there in 2015 for my honeymoon, around mid december. i didnt get to unioin, but it was busy as hell at bulabog, and only just the beginning of the season. good luck finding an area to do anything where you need 100m of downwind space, it doesnt exist. had some idiot learner almost take me out when she dove her kite right over my head, didnt even see it coming, it could quite have possibly knocked me out cold. i paid the beach fee and got pumped up and launched, its worth the money because there is no way you will be self launching on that beach. even unioin beach is pretty tight as well, i had kited it in 2010 and i remember it was pretty narrow. i had 3 sessions at bulabog for the week i was there in 2015, it was pumping wind no doubt, but i got bored with it at the end, needs some waves.

ive been in 2010 and 2011, it was pretty much the same story, except in 2010 we did a kite surfari to seco island with Jo Wilson and it was fckn epic. i would totally do that again, but it was a tad pricey and its not really an option with the mrs in tow.

all the best, if you can i would try to find an isolated island close by to kite on for least a few days, then just get a boat back to the main land. pumping wind with butter flat, deep lagoon water is what the philippines is all about.

Try the Northshore Philippines where the now famous Kingfisher and several flat Lagoons and wave spots are located. With wind relatively guaranteed from October to April. We're migrating there starting end of the month. The town remote has no crowd at all except Holyweek just few kitesurfers and windsurfers who are looking for a more advanced playground than Boracay.Several clinics happening to start the season by Reo Stevens and Jhon Palacios of PataNegra Tarifa coming October and November.
