Hi All

Im a uk citizen who is coming over to Australia to work for a year. Id like to spend alot of my time kitesurfing whilst im there.

Is there areas in Australia that are more suited for kitesurfing that i should head to?
Or is it more like Uk through out the uk coast line you will find areas to surf or kitesurf?

Many thanks!

Lucas

Hang on, does anyone have that map of Australia that shows where you can kite

EDIT - Found it on this helpful thread www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/General-Discussion/Chat/Seabreeze-missing-basic-info/

Upper Qld is good in the summer for kiters - no jellyfish.
No, wait, it's in the winter... not sure..

Main beach at Eucla is a good flat water spot
Kiters would love it.

They're all having a giraffe mate, Perth and WA are the only places worth heading to, windy and flat'ish in the summer, and windy and wavey in the winter and there's a few of us out here already.

ditto Lucas
Ask on the beach the local rules, dont behave like a dickhead and dont s??t in the bushes(emergencies accepted)

The reason why you got red thumbed is cos we get a fair few blow ins that dont respect where they are, i am positive this is not you.

WA is outstanding, plenty of work
Season is nov-march ish in Perth

One of the mining companies has to find and extra 34,000 workers for next year in WA. We have many tourists visit Perth and its surrounds who dont want to know about local rules and will happily use our beaches as their local dump. Locals are friendly and will happily tell you the rules and ettiquite of different beaches. If you are being reckless or inconsiderate locals will let you know nicely, ignoring the rules will not make a nice session as we have had too much pressure on the banning of particular spots. Pommie kitesurfers tend to be a great respectful bunch, but some of the guys and gals from across the channel wear out their welcome very quickly. Two of the main issues are tourists who refuse to follow circuits at some of the best spots, and complete disregard of the 2x line length distance from other kitesurfers resulting in many near misses and crossed lines. Wear a smile, listen to the locals, and youll get a smile and probably a cold beer for the sunset.

I remember the days when Aussies used to go the UK to get paid in pounds, now it is the other way around....

@ the gibbo: emergencies are NOT excepted or accepted. if you have to go that bad then crap in a rag or a plastic bag or your best shirt and throw it in a bin.

there's no excuse for *hitting on the foreshore

Crap in a rag !!! ...... Well that's one way I suppose. I personally would prefer to dig a hole well back in the bushes. Dire emergencies only......... then again I have been guilty of the odd aqua nugget over the years ( location depending )

WOW,,
I feel sorry for the guy comming over to "friendly non raciest" australia and posting on a aussie forum and getting dumped on big time.

Dont worry lucas,,most of the answers you got where from a a few troll windsurfers, not all of them are like that. Not too many of them leftLOL

Bit embarressed to be an Aussie looking at all the verbal abuse to a traveller visiting our great country.Dont think that is a majority voice of the australian wind junkie population,,,,well,,I hope it isnt.
Hope some of the posters on this thread get the same treatment when they go traveling, as return karma.

Hope you get some good wind and waves Lucas,,enjoy aussie. Its a great place.

But if you are a troll,,,,Lake Jindy up the snowies is the best spot to kite

If you are in the upper part of NSW area, send me a PM and the locals here will show you a few spots.
