Everyone that has tried the Source is very enthusiastic about it. With FOne also making SUP boards to get the full benefits from the kite it is hard to knock. With light bar pressure most people will never hook in to the loop and if the wind picks up its not hard to drop the bar pack the kite away and paddle pack in.
The kite wasn't developed as a way to make a million dollars, it came about due to the lack of wind they had. Who knows this season we may not have a lot of wind, there are a lot of kiters that already have sup's so will have to wait and see if they become popular.
I know that the future is a scary place for narrow-minded people, in a sport that is developing and splitting in many different directions. But it is going to be ok, you can still ride the way you want, and can choose to try different aspects of the sport as they develop if you choose but know one is forcing you to. But give it a try before you knock it.
