Looool I just had a fantastic session on a 3m Ozone Light II !!!!! SB reckons it was around 27 knots gusting to 32 knots and I had it parked in one spot and was doing some nice floaty jumps... I was expecting to just go up and fall like a rock but it was really cool and floaty!!! Of course it turned faster than most stunt kites, and zipped about the window all over the place but it was just so much fun!!
I was using a 130cm twintip (Cab Calibre) and I weigh about 70kg's...

So who else has ridden a 3m kite? did you like it and what were the conditions like? and who makes 3m kites anyway? I've seen a 3m Rebel before, but nothing else?

To all beginners, 3m kites aren't something you should go out and buy because they are stupidly fast and pretty dangerous in that kind of wind...

Not ridden one personally (it would need to be really windy !!!) but I saw a small guy ride one once - I think it was a 2007 Naish Boxer SLE School Edition - it was wild !!! Best I have ever got down to is a 10m Torch III - that was awesome as well...
Just jealous !!! I was working this afternoon and I saw it kick in !!!

The "C" is like holding on to a demented blow fly

Ive used a 5m waroo in 25-30knots on a 121 board and had a great time, once you get used to flying a angry wasp, bloody things move so fast. Was ripping about and getting nice jumps as well, and im 95kg.

I flew a mate's ancient 4 metre peter lynn last year in 30 knots - I'm 100 kg's and was lit!

Great fun when you got moving but I wiped out so much - all or nothing and extremely fast!

Yep - strange kite it goes to show how far the sport has come. I'd only flown the 07 onwards kites so had no idea had hard it use to be.

I was relieved to get back on my 12 metre boxer stop getting hurt!

Heyy.

I had a 4m peter lynn arc for about 2/3 years as part of my quiver.. I only had a 13m venom and my 4m and thats all i needed. As soon as I couldn't handle my 13m I just used the 4m and it was excellent.. I could ride from like 8-35 knots with my 2 kites.. although when the wind got stronger it got a little tougher, as you would expect..

It was a pretty fast kite and definitely very responsive. One of the guys who was about 100-120kg was lit in like 25-30knots on the 4m.. One of the best kites I've had actually..

I'm looking for a bar and lines for it..anyone know where I can get a hold of one???? It's just a 4 line..

Was down at Inverloch and the wind was decent... Flew a mates Flexi (May have been the Sting?) 3m foil, with handles, thought it had some grunt, chucked the board on and got on the water, worked the hell out of the kite and me, managed a little jump then I was stuffed!
Bit of fun tho...

I think there is video on EueToob of a dude riding a 3m Radsail on the water doing quite well...

slingshot b3 foil, from above 25knots easy, just don't crash it or your in for a swim, or edge to hard as goes to neutral so easy..
Plus needed to up grade lines as orginals weren't design for it big jump line broke and I went splash and long swim guys all got a great laugh..
4 kite mini loops and hardly left the water :-)

Me and a mate I kite with used to have a 4m Gaastra a few years ago that we've taken out a handful of times. We made up a short bar with 15m lines and just tried to loop it whenever it was too windy to do anything else without ****ting yourself.

Alot of fun and because the lines are so short you don't go boosting stupidly high, but it rips you downwind like crazy and it's really easy to get higher than the kite. Alot of times it was too hard to keep holding onto the bar though so it would hit the water and you'd go flying forward and land on top of the lines. Pretty dangerous now that I think about it.

Too right. My old 6.5m Cab CO2 was insanely fast compared to the 10m Element I used to use. Nothing like upgrading to a bow kite! I don't think I will ever go back to my 6.5m C even when its cranking 30knots and I could get out; safety aspect is terrible!

Great to hear you're getting out in conditions that others can't! That's what this sport is all about!

I've got a 4m Peter Lynn Arc in my garage too. Scary kite, it generates a lot of power when whipped through the power zone and I took some beatings in those days. Stupidly pulsey and totally indestructable. Self-launching was bloody dangerous. Maybe one day I'll give it a spin in some real wind to see if I can fly it better than I used to be able to.

I'm 100Kgs now and these are the conditions that I've got the 7m Switchblade for. You guys can keep your wierd and wonderful old stuff.

I used to have my 8m 05 Gaastra Vision as my high wind kite. It was fun, but it did used to drop you like a stone and when you get big gusts (as you usually do with 30+ knot winds) it comes up a little short in depower campared to newer kites.

My 1st kite was a 3m 4 line Wipika, my only kite for a year (im only 43kg) and when i upgraded to a 6.9m Wipika Airblast it felt so slow, because i started on such a fast kite, even now anything over an 8m feels slow.

At Woodies, WA, on a 4.5 m Flysurfer in 2007... I am around 75kg, board was a Airush Switch Pro 148x31. The wind was... strong.

It was good
