the Ozone team has been hard at work developing some new sizes for the Edge so the racers can have the best choice for their quiver. After a lot of feedback they decided to make an 10m and the 19m Edge.

The 10 is available to order now and the 19m will follow very soon.

The 19m will be choice for the heavier racers out there.

I feel so sorry for people that even entertain the thought of buying a 19m kite. In that sort of wind you should be on a mate's yacht boozing, or normal surfing!

obviously you havent been kiting on a raceboard in sub 10knts and a 19m will be nice for the heavier guys racing.

Why? It's still better than using a paraglider :)

100% powered in 6 to 10 knots and easily smashing 20 knots on my race board sounds pretty fun to me.... when it's lite onshore and super crap surfing, sup and every other kiter sitting on beach all arvo depressed. Rob the designer of Ozone has made MY day at 98kg in weight on a good day - riding the new 19m edge will I am sure will blow my mind on a race board.... No piss on a yacht for me.

In 15knots it will be mind bending

hey johnno,
what kind of race board are you riding. saw on the ozone site that you used a slalom board to win the L2L. what board/fin is that exactly?

thanks!

You have an excellent point, I have seen a couple of guys lately around Perth who have the race boards really dialled and my god they are hauling arse even in light winds!

Coleman - been chopping up surf tow boards for a couple of years and tweek board every race to get the orange beast to handle better at speed on the ocean. Fins are the hard bit - easy to find fast fins that go up wind, but add weed in water, & head high ocean swell & 30 knots and it all goes to ****. Also I'm 98kg so I need a pretty grippy set of fins at speed. My fins are custom for me and I have chopped them alot to try and sort. Start with a set of super stiff straight tow fins as large as possible. Also at end of month I'm lucky to be able to test the new Orange 2013 Temavento raceboard - If you see 2x orange flashes on the ocean hauling arse in 8knots that will be Team Boss. Orange goes faster....

Great to hear the 19m edge is arriving. If this 19 is anything like the 17 it will be an amazing kite (. (Ive sailed the 17 in a consistet 20knts and it's solid and flyable) This size will allowed me (@96kg) to sail in 6-8knts and be powered up through the lulls. The addition of the 19m to the quiver is vital when racing especially for heavier sailors those at +90kg who struggle in light winds against the light weight sailors where power to weight ratio becomes very important. Irrespective of racing this kite just extends the range of sailing time on the water. There is no better feeling than being powered up on flat water on a race board at speed and hearing the sound of water slapping against the hull...

must be a common thing for 2014.

North are doing a much bigger size run next year for the DYNO

Have an awesome time on my 19m core xr2 right up to 17knots on my twin tip and even at 10 knots having ripper time.

17m is a kids size for us big blokes... Surely if every other manufacturer is looking at 19 m's north would do the same?

Interesting that Ozone have only added the two sizes to there current edges models and not produce new kites for release with the new race season.
Althought the sizing's seem absolutely perfect.
